A Hat in Time

Attachment In the Nyakuza Metro DLC, there is a hidden area that can be accessed in the Green Clean Station by jumping off of a moving subway train at the last second and then wall-jumping up to the top of a large, green, three-tiered LCD display above the station ledge. At the top, a cage with an egg can be found, but just near it is a Springboard that will send Hat Kid to a hidden, burning, grated area through a manhole. Upon interacting with the manhole, a message can be found on it that reads "Kiwami means extreme." Suddenly, an eye-patched Metro Cat named Meowjima will ambush you by jumping out of the manhole and screaming:

"HAT KID-CHAAAAAAN! You've grown soft, time to bring out your fighting spirit!"

This initiates a secret mini-boss battle. The message on the manhole is a reference to the tagline of the game Yakuza: Kiwami, and this character is a parody of Goro Majima based on his appearance in that game as well as a reference to one of its side quests "Majima Everywhere", where he ambushes Kazuma Kiryu through disguised encounters as a form of training. There is no reward for completing this boss battle, and upon interacting with the manhole again you will be sent back to the Springboard you used to enter it.

In the Shivering Isles expansion, Sheogorath is the only character in the game to have a grown-out beard, and the player cannot grow one of their own. If you attack Sheogorath, he will teleport you far above an unmarked location on the map called "Punishment Point", where you will fall to your death among other corpses. If you make it to Punishment Point on your own, a corpse named "Sheogorath's Punished" can be found with the following Death Decree attached to him explaining the "heinous crime" that sealed his fate there:

"Sheogorath, Prince of Madness, Lord of the Never-There, Sovereign of the Shivering Isles, does, on this day, hence-forth make this decree:

Robert Wisnewski

Citizen of the Shivering Isles, Resident of Bliss, and Honored Madman
has broken the laws and covenants of the Shivering Isles and offended the austere personage of Our Lord, through the following actions:
Attempting the Growth of a Beard, an Action Deemed Unseemly in the Eyes of Our Lord
It is further decreed that the actions of this citizen merit the strictest of punishments to be meted out at the earliest possible hour, in a manner to be chosen according to the Whims and Fancies of Our Lord Sheogorath"

Robert Wisnewski is the name of a member of Bethesda's art team that worked on the Shivering Isles expansion, suggesting this Easter egg was a light jab at him for trying to grow a beard during development.

Attachment In the Broken Steel DLC, in the cutscene used for when the player character travels on the Presidential metro, the moving train is not a separate entity programmed to move on its own due to limitations with the Gamebryo engine. Instead, when the player goes on the metro, a script is triggered that equips an NPC underneath the train with a glove that turns its right hand invisible and produces the model for the Presidential metro car on top of it appearing like a giant hat. This then triggers an animation of the NPC's model sitting down and gliding along the ground in an arc that simulates the metro riding along the subway tracks.

Rivet City's Abraham Washington is the name of this NPC and is a reference to two former United States Presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Attachment When flirting with Mio, there is a chance she will say "Your princess is in another castle... JK!" This is a reference to Super Mario Bros. when Toad says "Thank you Mario! but our princess is in another castle!" There is also a chance Mio might say "Player used Seduction. it's super effective. Mio fainted...". This is a reference to the "super effective" line used during battles in the Pokémon series. Mio will also reference both series in the game's "Uncensored Mode" DLC, through a Lingerie outfit modelled after Poké Balls featuring the "M" on Mario's hat, as well as a comment Mio makes upon selecting the outfit: "Mio used Hardened! It was super effective - *giggle*!"

Attachment Both Riven: The Sequel to Myst and the base version of Tokimeki Memorial 2 hold the record for the most CDs for a single game on the original PlayStation, with each of them being spread across five discs. However, Tokimeki Memorial 2 becomes the sole record-holder when counting three additional DLC discs that were distributed with the tie-in magazine Hibikino Watcher, bringing its own total up to eight CDs.

In the latter game's case, the large disc count is due to the use of a unique voice synthesis program that lets the game's cast pronounce the player character's custom name in naturalistic ways. Because of the intensive nature of this program, the base game only allows it for two characters, Hikari Hinamoto and Kasumi Asou (a third, Maeka Kudanshita, calls the player "shōnen" – roughly equivalent to "kiddo" – regardless of what name they inputted). The Hibikino Watcher CDs were consequently handed out in order to accommodate the rest of the game's cast.
