Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
1
One exploit to gain more coins is to use Luigi’s hammer to change Mario into Mini Mario, then make Luigi attempt to perform a High Jump. If you have Mario jump up when Luigi is above Mario, he will strike Luigi from below and it will cause Luigi to produce a coin as if he was a block. New coins can be acquired based on how much HP Luigi has and will stop once he’s at 1 HP.

Attachment Whether intentional or coincidental, Luigi’s updated sprites in the Super Mario All-Stars re-release of Super Mario World reference two common misconceptions about Mario’s sprites from the original Super Mario Bros.: spitting fireballs from his mouth and hitting blocks with his head.
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
subdirectory_arrow_right Max Payne (Game)
1
In Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, during Part III: Chapter Three: A Mob War, you can find a hidden dialogue between two Punchinello mobsters while they stand guard by a staircase waiting for intruders:

Vegas: "What about moving?"

Unnamed mobster: "What about it? Put one foot in front of the other."

Vegas: "No, I mean, what about you moving out, leaving her?"

Unnamed mobster: "That's the trouble, you can't choose who you go crazy about."

Vegas: "True, but what you can choose is what you do about it, you know? Kiss them or kill them."

Unnamed mobster: "Yeah, I guess you're right. Hey, thanks, Vegas."

Vegas: "Hey, don't get soft on me. You stay here, I'm gonna check upstairs."

Unnamed mobster: "Okay. Hey, but Vegas, I really mean it, thanks."

Vegas: "Forget about it already."

This exchange is a reference to an old meme from the 3D Realms forums. The exact origins of this meme are not entirely known, but in a developer Q&A that occurred at an unknown date (either for the first Max Payne game, or in the lead-up to Max Payne 2's announcement at E3 2002 going off of what could be easily found in 3D Realms' forum archives), one fan asked them "What about moving?", a seemingly vague and unnecessary question. This question perplexed the game's fan community and developers, who promised that moving would appear in the final game, and it did. The question then became an early popular meme on the forums, later being referenced in Max Payne 2. In a thread on October 8th, six days prior to the game's release, in anticipation for another developer Q&A, the line as it appears in the game appeared to be referenced in a post presumably by a Remedy Entertainment staff member or moderator, who quoted the first two lines in the dialogue.

Mario Kart 64

At the end of each cup, the Award Ceremony for the top three racers in the cup is held outside Peach's Castle as it is seen in Super Mario 64. This is not a unique, inaccessible area, but can actually be found in Royal Raceway, popularly featuring an open pathway allowing you to drive around the starting area of Super Mario 64. However, this area is also not a shortcut and you must return to the racetrack if you want to continue the race. Alternatively, you can fall in the castle's moat, causing Lakitu to pull you out and return you to the racetrack.
Bayonetta
3
Attachment During any cutscene where Bayonetta has a lollipop, if you hold down a specific button before the candy head of the lollipop first appears, you will gain the effect of a specific lollipop item available in the game's stores, and this is reflected in the cutscene by changing which lollipop flavor is shown:

• A for Green Herb lollipop (recover health)
• B for Bloody Rose lollipop (temporary damage boost)
• X for Purple Butterfly lollipop (recover magic)
• Y for Yellow Moon lollipop (gain armor)

It is pertinent that you press and hold the desired button before the candy part of the lollipop is actually seen in the cutscene to ensure the trick works. For example, in Chapter IV: The Cardinal Virtue of Fortitude, when Bayonetta walks into the colosseum, you can see that she is holding a lollipop, but you can only see the stick at first, meaning there's still time to perform the trick. If performed correctly, the lollipop head will be revealed as the one you have chosen. You can also skip the cutscene while still holding the button in order to keep the effect. Unlike normally using a lollipop item, performing this trick does not remove points from your score in a chapter.

Going off of the colors of each lollipop that are used for each face button, they match up with the Xbox 360 controller's color scheme, possibly being a remnant of Platinum Games primarily developing Bayonetta for the Xbox 360. This feature would not be carried over into subsequent Bayonetta games.

The Wild Villains, an original group of villains created for the game, are all based on characters from writer Kohei Horikoshi's previous manga, Oumagadoki Zoo:

• Curator is based on Isana, the main antagonist of the "Vs. Aquarium" arc.
• Zookeeper is based on Hana Aoi, the main deuteragonist of the series, with elements from Shiina, the main protagonist.
• Bearhead is based on Shikuma, the main antagonist of the "Vs. Circus" arc.

Mr. Blobby

Amiga games are infamous for containing rude and sometimes violent messages in their code aimed at pirates (or "crackers"). Mr. Blobby serves as an exception to this, instead containing a tongue in-cheek message seemingly encouraging the practice of putting "cracktro" opening titles before pirated games:

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme
subdirectory_arrow_right Dance Dance Revolution X2 (Game)

By reaching an ENJOY LEVEL of 120 in Dance Dance Revolution X2, a new Challenge Chart is unlocked for the Dance Dance Revolution Extreme Song "bag". While it appears identical to the Expert Chart, every triplet (12th, 24th, 48th note) step is rounded to the nearest 64th note, making it harder to time. This references how, in its debut game of Extreme, triplet notes were improperly quantized due to hardware limitations, further exacerbated by "bag"'s BPM of only 65. The Expert Chart's timing was previously corrected in Dance Dance Revolution X.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
2
Attachment If the player holds the button after performing Hugh Neutron's grounded up light and then presses left or right on the stick, they can skid Hugh very slightly. Hugh moves slightly further with every skid, and, as there is no cap to how far the skids can go, he can become so fast that he teleports from one side of the stage to the other with a single skid. This has no practical use in a battle due to the amount of skids required to begin teleporting, as well as the skid count restarting every time Hugh uses the move, but appears to be a deliberate feature implemented by the developers, as every time Hugh skids, he makes a short squeaking noise.
Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood
1
Starting with Mission 5: "The Prince and the Outlaw" when Robin learns that Prince John is planning to crown himself king of England and began gathering the Crown Jewels, the player can try and steal all of them throughout the game, including:

• Royal Sceptre, Mission 5: "The Prince and the Outlaw"
• Doomsday Book, Mission 7: "The Evening Visitor"
• Coronation Spoon, Mission 9: "The Lock Up and the Friar"
• Sword of State, Mission 10: "The Silver Arrow"
• Ampulla, Mission 12: "A Wedding and a Funeral"
• Richard's Sigil, Mission 13: "The Escape"
• Royal Crown, Mission 14: "The Letter"

The Silver Arrow itself, also found in Mission 10, despite not counting as one of the Crown Jewels, is displayed alongside the rest of them.

Gathering all of the Crown Jewels increases the final score, but after completing the final mission, it will also unlock a secret ending. Following the last cutscene, a new segment will load showing the main characters, some civilians and soldiers at the Sherwood Forest hideout throwing a techno dance party complete with modern electronic music (in contrast to the orchestral medieval soundtrack throughout the rest of the game), turntables and loudspeakers. The player is only able to control Stuteley, but he will return to his starting position after every attempt to move.

The Myconid is a race of intelligent fungus creatures appearing in Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. Attachment Prior to doing official work on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise as one of its writers/artists, Evan Stanley worked on a fan comic called "Ghosts of the Future" based on the series. Set in an alternate reality where Sonic and his friends are defeated by Dr. Eggman with the aid of a mind-controlled Shadow, the comic featured Silver the Hedgehog as the main character, tasked with restoring the seven Chaos Emeralds that were removed from time as a last resort. After being brought on to do official work on the franchise, the fan comic has been referenced on two occasions in official Sonic comics. The first was in issue 257 of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic, which featured cameos from Richard and Deborah Erin (Silver's parents in the comic) during the scene where Rotor is directing rescue operations outside Twinkle Park (note that they are slightly recolored in this scene). The second time was in issue 64 of IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comic, which featured cameos from Vanice the Hedgehog and Sicily the Hedgehog (Silver's sisters in the comic) during the scene where Silver and Whisper are trying to confront Duo.
