Club Penguin
3
Attachment One of the oldest and most well-known rumors in the game was that the Iceberg to the northeast of Club Penguin Island could be tipped over if enough penguins stood on one side of it, or if enough penguins used the Jackhammer 3000 on the Iceberg by wearing the Hard Hat. However, this rumor was false and was never actually implemented into the game for most of its run.

From January 31 until the date of the game's shutdown on March 30, 2017, the Waddle on Party was held. As part of the celebrations, the developers decided to actually program and code the Iceberg so it could tip over. This was hinted at by one of the game's community managers, who revealed in the comments section of a blogpost detailing the Waddle on Party that "penguins could discover a special secret". The Iceberg could be tipped if at least 5 players in the room were wearing the color Blue, walking a Blue Puffle or any of its variants, and dancing while wearing a Hard Hat. If only 2 to 4 penguins fulfilled this criteria, the Iceberg would just shake. When enough penguins manage to tip it, the Iceberg would completely flip over, revealing a large dance floor, a bin of free Iceberg Tipper hats, a buoy numbered 11 frozen in the ice, and a plaque surrounded by many carvings and an inscription on it that read:

"Together, we can build an island, create a community, change the world... and even tip an iceberg. Waddle on."

Concord
2
In August 2024, it was revealed that Concord would serve as the basis for an episode of "Secret Level", an animated video game anthology series released on Amazon Prime Video. However, the servers for Concord were shut down on September 6th, just two weeks after launch and much earlier than the show's planned release on December 10th. Despite this, it was confirmed the day before Concord was taken offline that the episode would remain in the show's lineup.

City of Heroes
2
On April 15, 2019, it was discovered that a private server based on City of Heroes at the time of its shutdown had been running in secret for six years following the game's discontinuation. Three days later, the source code for this server was distributed, leading to the creation of a public server based on the code. Although this server was shut down by April 22 due to possible legal threats, multiple servers based on this code had since been set up. The most prominent of these offshoot servers was known as "Homecoming", who even went as far as to negotiate with NCsoft for the legal right to keep the server running. Years later, their efforts would pay off, as on January 4, 2024, it was announced that the team behind "Homecoming" had acquired a server license to run an official version of City of Heroes and its expansions, free to play and funded by donations.

UPIXO In Action: Mission in Snowdriftland
1
UPIXO in Action: Mission in Snowdriftland was created to serve as an Advent calendar with a winter theme. This is why the game was only available for a limited time, as the developers did not see much reason for the game to be playable all year round.
Shining Nikki
2
In 2020, to celebrate the launch of Shining Nikki in South Korea, Paper Games released a series of in-game wardrobe items based on the hanbok, a traditional Korean dress. This led to complaints from Chinese players, who objected to the hanbok being treated as a traditional Korean item and claimed that it was actually rooted in Chinese culture. On November 4, Paper Games released a statement supporting the argument that the hanbok was not Korean, and that "as a Chinese company, we want to reiterate that our stance is always consistent with our country China." They also announced that any accounts spreading misinformation about China or trying to insult the country would be blocked, implying that arguing that the hanbok was Korean counted as an offense. The hanbok items were ultimately removed from the game a day later.

This caused backlash from Korean players, who retaliated by deleting the game and applying for refunds for in-app purchases. On November 6, the game was delisted from Korean stores, resulting in demands that Paper Games be investigated for stealing Korea's cultural heritage and closing the service without offering compensation. This got to the point where Lee Sang-heon, a Democratic Party lawmaker from South Korea's National Assembly, called out Paper Games for siding with false claims from Chinese netizens and directing criticism towards Korean users. He also warned that their actions had violated South Korea's fair trade rules as they did not offer refunds and compensations prior to pulling the game from the country.
Cooking Mama: Cookstar

Yum Yum Cookstar appears to have been made as some kind of contingency over Cooking Mama: Cookstar's legal disputes, being made by the same developers and publishers and having gone on sale on Steam a mere week before Cooking Mama: Cookstar was withdrawn from sale. While it is not known to what extent Yum Yum Cookstar is based on Cooking Mama: Cookstar, it does have a substantial difference in gameplay, having a psuedo-rhythm element that does not exist in the latter game.

Some prints of the box art have a printed sticker noting the game's connection to Cooking Mama: Cookstar, in spite of the controversy. The official website, TikTok account, and trailers for Yum Yum Cookstar proclaim the game to be made by "the creators of the best-selling hitgame[sic] Cookstar" (without acknowledging the Cooking Mama series by name) and use the slogan "This ain't your mama's kitchen!". The veracity of the claim of the first Cookstar being a best-seller is not known as sales figures have not been released.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
1
In 2012, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was ported to the PlayStation 3's PlayStation Network under the PlayStation 2 Classics line. However, it was taken down shortly afterwards with no official explanation. Audiences quickly inferred that the port's withdrawal was due to the poor reception it drew thanks to various emulation issues involved with it, though it may have also been due to THQ going bankrupt and Activision acquiring the license to make games based on Nickelodeon properties around the same time. Among these emulation issues, the 16:9 display (which was the default option) stretched the game rather than properly re-rendering it at a higher aspect ratio, the audio for in-engine cutscenes frequently stuttered and fell behind by up to a second, certain textures were noticeably blurry due to the game being displayed at a higher resolution than what it was designed for, and gameplay suffered from prominent input lag compared to the original release.

BoKe Travelog
1
BoKe Travelog was a PC browser game released exclusively in China that ran from 2011 to 2013 before shutting down. The game was very clearly inspired by Poptropica, though notably included a background story for the game's events, unlike Poptropica. Set in an alternate timeline where climate change forced humans to move from land to sea due to rising water levels, it follows a group of people known as "BoKe" as they confront the evil Dr. Hedra, who wishes to take over the world and has begun attacking the various islands left from the climate change to do so. The game also featured various visual similarities to Poptropica, namely with its map layout and the plots of each island, though it did use its own spin on the character designs.

BoKe Travelog had eight islands, each one of which was based on an island seen in Poptropica. The islands were:

• "Potato Island", based on "24 Carrot Island".
• "Octopus Island", based on "Shark Tooth Island".
• "BoKe Island", based on "Early Poptropica Island".
• "Time Tangled Island", based on the island of the same name.
• "Haunted House Island", based on the mini-quest of the same name.
• "Diamond Island", based on "Counterfeit Island".
• "Superman Island", based on "Super Power Island".
• "Battle Island", which had various aspects of Poptropica's multiplayer interactions, such as the Paint war, Hoops, and Pathwise minigames.

Also like Poptropica, a book series based on BoKe Travelog (called "Mystery Island Adventures") was released, featuring stories unrelated to the in-game islands. The game was ultimately shutdown on December 22nd, 2013 according to a news post on the site: while the post does not state why it was shutdown, it emphasized that it was a difficult decision to end the game.
Stellar Blade
3
On March 8, 2024, a demo for the game was mistakenly released on the PlayStation Store in the United States. It was taken down twenty-five minutes later and rendered unplayable on systems where it had been downloaded if they connected to the internet after the takedown. This was the first time Sony had ever done such an act, with many pointing out that they didn't even do it when P.T., the demo for the cancelled Silent Hills, was removed from the PlayStation Store by Konami.

Fantasia
2
Roy E. Disney, the nephew of Walt Disney and then-senior executive of The Walt Disney Company, was not informed that their licensing department had granted Sega the rights to develop a Fantasia video game until after its release. Roy had previously promised Walt before his death that merchandising deals would not be made for Fantasia, resulting in the game's withdrawal from sale after roughly 100 days.
