In the 2008 film "The Rocker", several characters are shown playing or learning to play Rock Band. One of the fictional bands featured at the start of the movie, Vesuvius, performs a song called "Promised Land". As part of a promotional tie-in with the movie, this song was made available as a free DLC track on Rock Band Network in June 2008, but has since been delisted.

On the song "Wanted: Dead or Alive," If you do well enough to have the audience sing along with your band, they will mess up during the chorus by singing an extra "wanted," even though that happens only once in the song. This derives from how fans of Bon Jovi would do the same thing at Bon Jovi concerts.

After the South Park episode "Whale Whores" included a segment where the characters played Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" on Rock Band (which was not in the game), Harmonix released the song as DLC, as well as a special cover version of the song performed by Eric Cartman.
