Twisted Metal
1
Models for more vehicles, such as Twister, Spectre, Mr. Slam, Crazy 8, Yellow Jacket and Pit Viper were created for the game but not implemented due to the developers' choice to forgo DLC. These vehicles are not playable and cannot be accessed by any means.
Twisted Metal: Black
1
The European release of the game suffered from numerous cuts to censor objectionable content, including the removal of all cutscenes (except a heavily edited cutscene of the selected vehicle entering and leaving Minion's Stadium, and a shot of the vehicle driving down a street in the ending cutscene). Other cuts included the removal of the Boeing 747, drivers running from their wreckage while on fire, the loading screen text pieces and in-game info of the drivers. However, short clips of the cutscenes were shown during the credits, as well as a gameplay clip showing the 747 being shot down.
Twisted Metal
1
Several cuts were made to the game in the European release. Cutscenes involving Sweet Tooth were the only ones to include censorship, with a total of 124 seconds of footage being removed. With regards to gameplay, Meat Wagon and Shadow's special weapons had their live hostages replaced by corpses.
Epic Mickey
1
Mickey was originally to have released his own paint from his hands. As he did this, the paint from his body would vanish, revealing his outline. The idea was later scrapped, and Mickey was given a paintbrush instead.
Final Fantasy XII
1
Attachment Vaan's original name during development was Aqua, and he was originally written with a rugged and world-worn attitude. He was rewritten to be more effeminate after consideration of the game's target audience.
Sonic Unleashed
1
In the original concept work of the character "Chip", his name was "Whip", referring to whipped cream, as whipped cream was an early design motif. However, this was changed as some felt the name whip carried too many negative connotations in English (such as whipping as an act of punishment, or the injury known as whiplash).
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
1
Attachment An unused HUD icon for a Ruger Autoloading Rifle can be found in the data of the PlayStation 2 version of the game. It was most likely cut early in development due to the unfinished state of the icon.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
1
Attachment The Army Fatigues outfit originally had the letters "USMC" on the front. This means that Victor would have joined the Marines, and not the Army.
Mega Man X2
1
Attachment Holding down the B button on Controller 2 while turning on the SNES will display a diagnostic screen for the Cx4 chip included in the cartridge. This chip is responsible for the trigonometric calculations necessary to display the animated wireframes in the game.
Team Fortress 2
1
Attachment The Neon Annihilator's battery has a nod to the Facepunch forums written on it: the texture reads "def2fp", meaning Death to Facepunch. The BLU version was originally intended to say "props2fp", but was changed by Valve, possibly unintentionally.

The weapon was originally supposed to be a chinese lantern, but the idea was dropped at Valve's suggestion since it closely resembled an unused weapon called the "Baleful Beacon".
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
1
Attachment The Mudokon Pop was originally a severed Mudokon head on a stick. Due to an incident in Japan in which someone was murdered at a school and their head placed on a post in front of the school, the Mudokon Pop was changed to a regular ice cream shape, with cartoonish Mudokon eyes and stitches on it in the Japanese release of Abe's Oddysee, as well as Abe's Exoddus in all regions, as the original appearance was deemed too similar in nature. This new logo design was also used in the "New 'N' Tasty" remake.
American McGee's Alice
1
Attachment The cover of the game, showing Alice holding the Vorpal Blade with blood splattered on her dress, was deemed too violent for store shelves in some regions. Alternate versions of the cover include her holding the Playing Cards or Ice Wand instead, with the blood removed.
No More Heroes
1
The suggestive motion that Travis (and the player) must perform to recharge the Beam Katana resembles a masturbatory act because the japanese word, "自家発電", means both "Manual power generation" and "masturbation".
Skullgirls
1
Attachment According to Lab Zero Games, the total cost of adding a new character to the game's roster is more than $150,000:

"No doubt you've noticed the surprisingly large sum we're requesting to finish Squigly. Believe it or not, this is actually cheap for a fighting game character, and the only reason it's even this cheap is because she's already partially complete, and our staff have volunteered to take pay cuts to try and increase the odds of meeting our goal."
Rayman Legends
subdirectory_arrow_right Rayman Legends (Game)
1
The game was originally planned to be released exclusively for the Wii U. However, because of the commercial failure of Wii U exclusive ZombiU, Ubisoft believed that Rayman Legends would not be proftiable as a Wii U exclusive, and decided to make it multi-platform.

However, rather than release the already-finished Wii U version on its previously announced release date and release the other versions later, Ubisoft decided to delay the release by 6 months so that all versions could be released simultaneously. This upset not only the fans who had been eagerly anticipating the game, but also the development team.

To try and counter-balance the negative press, Ubisoft introduced an free application to the Wii U, in the form of a Challenges App, that provided a number of different challenge based levels for users to compete for higher scores and faster times on an online leaderboard without purchasing the game.
Donkey Kong
1
The game originally didn't have a jumping mechanic. It was implemented as a way to avoid obstacles when Shigeru Miyamoto and his team thought "If you had a barrel rolling towards you, what would you do?"
Company: Double Fine
1
Attachment The name "Double Fine" comes from a traffic sign on the Golden Gate Bridge that used to say "Slow To 45 MPH - Double Fine Zone".
Superman: The New Superman Adventures
subdirectory_arrow_right Superman (Game), Superman: Battle for Metropolis (Game)
1
Attachment PlayStation and Game Boy counterparts of the game were planned but later canceled. The PlayStation version was being developed by BlueSky Software and featured completely different gameplay, without the rings and more akin to Tomb Raider. It was canceled possibly due to Titus' license expiring (though another trailer suggests it was to be published by Interplay).

In 2020, a prototype build of the game dated at June 22, 2000 was uploaded to the Internet Archive.
Knuckles' Chaotix
1
Attachment Mighty the Armadillo's sprite sheet is nearly identical to Sonic's sprite sheet from Sonic Crackers, a Genesis prototype game from which Knuckles Chaotix drew its elastic ring mechanic.

This has led fans to speculate that Sonic was originally intended to be in the game instead of Mighty, but was changed late in development. This, as well as the theory that Tails was also meant to be included, is backed up by other assets in the game, including Amy Rose being hidden in a sound test and Sonic and Tails appearing in the ending screen when the game is completed with all 7 Chaos Rings.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
1
Attachment The RC Goblin, a little toy copter from Vice City, was to return but was cut. It can still be spawned with trainers, but cannot be controlled.
