JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood
3
Attachment If you beat Story Mode and then play through it again, the captions for Jonathan's response to Dio kicking his dog Danny in the jaw are slightly altered. Instead of reading "何をするんだ" ("What the hell are you doing?!"), it will now read "何をするだ" ("What the hell you doing!?"), which is identical in meaning, but omits the hiragana character "ん". The typo in the second playthrough is deliberate and references a mistake made in that scene when it was published in the manga's original 1987 print run. This typo stuck around in reprints for almost 15 years, becoming a meme among Japanese fans for making the intended line sound like a "country-like scream", until it was finally corrected in a paperback release in 2002.

Early on in the game, after finding out the town was ruined during the night, King Roland wonders if Buddy, Lyndsay and "their friend" could come help, but concludes that they are too busy elsewhere. This is a reference to the Wii version of the game, where Buddy, Lyndsay, and the player (the aforementioned friend) travel across the various islands in the kingdom to help solve their problems, implying that the events of the two versions occur simultaneously.

Attachment When traversing the drainage pipe that leads to Barnsworth, the player can spot graffiti that reads "PAY NO POLL TAX" and "DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!" These reference slogans from opponents of former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

The former references the Community Charge, a controversial policy of the Thatcher administration that resulted in her 1990 resignation following widespread protests (it was ultimately replaced by the Council Tax three years later). The latter message references a campaign by anti-Thatcherites following her death in 2013 to inflate the chart position of "Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead", a song from the 1939 film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, under the pretense that the BBC would be forced to play it over the radio. The network ultimately compromised by including a brief snippet in a news report about the campaign. The presence of both references ties in with the game's setting in Northern England, where anti-Thatcherism is particularly pronounced.

Attachment After obtaining the map from the karaoke bar, if the player selects the "じっとみつめる" ("Stare") option and waits on the resulting screen for an hour, a text box will appear mimicking the sign-off messages used by Japanese TV channels before the screen goes black. Waiting an additional three hours brings up a series of SMPTE color bars, and waiting one more hour brings up a second text box which simply reads "おはようございます" ("good morning"). Following this, the player is returned to the karaoke bar, with their progress reverted to before obtaining the map.
Sonic X Shadow Generations

Attachment One of the pre-order bonuses for the game is a skin for Shadow that is based off an early concept version of him from Sonic Adventure 2 named Terios. The name comes from the Greek term "telos", referring to an end, fulfillment, completion, goal or aim.

Jane Doe's name has two different references in it. The first and most obvious one is a reference to the term "Jane Doe", a placeholder name used in cases where a female individual's real name is either unknown or intentionally concealed (ironically, her Spoiler:New Eridu Public Security (NEPS) Consultant Card implies that her name really is Jane Doe rather than an alias). The second reference is found in her last name "Doe", which is what female fancy mice (domesticated breeds of common house mice) are often referred to as. Both of these references are fitting for Jane's character as she is a mouse Thiren with prominent ears and a tail, and because Spoiler:she works for NEPS as a consultant, specializing in criminal psychology and infiltrating dangerous groups.

Attachment Within the data for version 1.2.6.1 is a placeholder chapter icon for "Farewell" depicting the Moon from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The backside is an edited version of this image which scrubs off the moon's facial features. The placeholder icon was removed from the game's files shortly afterward.

Attachment 9-Volt's stages in the WarioWare franchise only feature games and series developed by either the main Nintendo EAD teams or Intelligent Systems, meaning that some well-known Nintendo IPs such as Kirby and Pokémon are left absent from 9-Volt's microgames. There is one obscure exception to this rule that can be found in 9-Volt's cutscene in WarioWare: Touched!, where a Pokémon Pikachu LCD device can be seen among his Nintendo collection.
Mortal Kombat 1

In an intro dialogue with Geras and Johnny Cage, the former will ask, "You want a sports almanac from the future?" to which Cage will respond "Forget it. It was just an idea."

This is a reference to the film "Back to the Future Part II" where the main antagonist, Biff Tannen, gives his younger self a sports almanac from the future so that he can become rich by betting on future sports outcomes.

In the American House, Pappas and Mamas' room features a shelf that when examined lists off the names of three comic manuscripts Pappas wrote: "Platinum Surfer", "Z-Men", and "SCAWN". These are references to the Marvel Comics and Image Comics properties Silver Surfer, X-Men, and Spawn respectively.

Yeah! You Want "Those Games", Right? So Here You Go! Now, Let's See You Clear Them!
4
This game, also referred to by the shorthand title "Those Games", is a parody of mobile game advertisements, specifically those that depict fake minigames that are not representative of the actual game once it is downloaded. The game's producer Maya Ito stated at its release that it was developed in just eight months, and came about about from her own desire to play those minigames "thoroughly and to my heart's content!" She described the process of balancing each minigame and trying to turn them into fully realized games as being particularly challenging, and felt that she "could've done some things a little differently" after noticing that players at launch had found many different ways to play the minigames.
Bayonetta
2
At the start of Bayonetta, a funeral is held for a notorious criminal known as "Eggman the Destroyer". This, to a Western audience, seems like a very obvious reference to Sonic the Hedgehog's main antagonist Dr. Eggman, as Bayonetta was published by Sega. However, series creator Hideki Kamiya claimed that he randomly chose the name Eggman and was not aware that there existed a popular Sega character with the name, choosing to leave it as is in the hopes that fans would "get a kick out of that".

The unlockable end credits of the Game Boy Camera samples the Twinkle Elementary School theme music from Mother, better known as the Your Name, Please? theme in its internationally released sequel, EarthBound. The director of the Game Boy Camera, Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka, had previously composed the soundtracks for both games.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

Attachment When setting a profile on Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, you can choose a favorite game from a near-comprehensive list of official NES/Famicom games released within the console's original lifespan, including games made by third parties, regional retitles, and even licensed IP games. As a result of this, it marks the first time since their release that Nintendo has officially acknowledged Mario is Missing! and Mario's Time Machine, a pair of third-party Mario educational games, discounting a vague and dismissive unnamed acknowledgement in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Attachment Generica's holiday outfit is a reference to the outfit worn by Jack Skellington, the main character of the 1993 stop-motion animated film "The Nightmare Before Christmas". When given said outfit, she'll state "What's this? What's this? This outfit reminds me of a nightmare I had once, just before Christmas.", which not only alludes to the film's title, but also to the song "What's This?" from the film, which is sung by Jack when he first arrives in Christmas Town.

Holocure: Save the Fans!

The "Sausage" and "Legendary Sausage" weapons in Holocure: Save the Fans! are based on the mobile games Sausage Legend and Sausage Legend 2, which are known for being played on livestreams by Hololive talent Oozora Subaru and her viewers. According to developer Kay Yu, he was granted permission by the Sausage Legend developers to reference the game via these weapons and its collaborations. In 2023, the references culminated in Hololive working with the Sausage Legend developers to release special skins for Sausage Legend 2 based on Subaru and fellow member Hakui Koyori.

Attachment In 2010, Nintendo held a competition in Flipnote Studio themed around the Mario series' 25th anniversary, and released an animation for a song with lyrics titled "The Mario Drawing Song" to promote it. This song would later be re-arranged as a slower instrumental and included as the background music that plays on the World Special-8 map in Super Mario 3D Land.

For Honor
5
Attachment The male Berserker class in For Honor was voiced by Stefán Karl Stefánsson, an Icelandic actor best known for portraying the villain Robbie Rotten in the live-action children's series LazyTown. The character was the subject of various internet memes throughout the show's run, the most popular of which being the song "We Are Number One" from the episode "Robbie's Dream Team". Following Stefánsson's widely-publicized death from bile duct cancer, a pair of Robbie Rotten references were added to the game as a tribute. These include:

• An emote named "Number One", where the Berserker transforms into a statue raising a finger upwards, resembling a pose Robbie Rotten does leading into "We Are Number One", with the caption "In Memoriam - to our Number One villain".
• A bot named "RobbieBotten" who plays as the Berserker and wears blue and red stripes, a similar but not exact proximity to the color scheme of Rotten's outfit.
