At one stage during development, Spyro was able to swim. His swimming animation had over 500 frames of animation, but it was cut from the game as the developers didn't feel that it added to the gameplay. On the back of the European release of the game, it mistakenly states that Spyro can swim despite him not swimming at any point in the final game.
