This is a reference to the Henry Stickmin series, a series of Flash Games made by the artist of Among Us, PuffballsUnited. The Diamond is the Tunisian Diamond from Stealing the Diamond, and the device is the Teleporter that Henry uses in every game and almost never works.

If the imposter gets voted out in the "Polus" map, the imposter will be thrown into lava, while making a thumbs up. This is a reference to the end of the film "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", where the Terminator dies in a vat of molten steel, while giving John & Sarah Connor a thumbs up.

Inside the code of Among Us is a placeholder version of the pet shop icon featuring pictures of "Big Chungus", a popular screenshot from the 1941 Looney Tunes cartoon "Wabbit Twouble", SpongeBob SquarePants, and the much-mocked early design for Sonic the Hedgehog from his 2020 movie.

This played off of a then-recent meme depicting Among Us players as suffering from pareidolia and mistaking simple everyday objects for impostors, the general cultural distaste for boy bands like BTS, and a viral 2017 eBay listing of a Cheeto supposedly shaped like the deceased gorilla Harambe. The nugget would come alongside a packet of Szechuan Sauce, a McDonald's condiment that had received a controversial limited release provoked by a joke in "The Rickshank Redemption", an episode of the animated series Rick & Morty. The auction sold to user polizna for $99,997.00 USD, outclassing the price of the Harambe Cheeto by $97.00.

Among Us creator Marcus Bromander would claim two years later in an interview with YouTubers LS Mark and Veronicaandjelly that he felt that taking legal action against fake Among Us products was a "losing battle" and that he ultimately just found them funny and thought of them as free promotion.
