In the final battle the player is led to believe the center creature is the core, but the true core is actually on the right, mirroring the appearance of the left Lavos Pod. Dr. Weil, like many characters, underwent several different designs in the conceptual stages. His designs were based on three different ages: young, middle-aged, and old. Ultimately a variation of the old design was chosen, but there are notes of interest about his other designs as well. The young design was meant to pilot a giant exoskeleton, and before being revealed as a young man his silhouette was meant to be seen with glowing eyes that made him appear more monstrous. The middle-aged design bears some mild similarities to Doctor Wily, though Inafune has firmly denied Weil and Wily were directly connected in any way. This design was later used for a minor character in Mega Man ZX Advent.

Mega Man X2
1
Attachment The conception of both Sigma and the X-Hunters have similar origins. Keiji Inafune originally had designs for a team of three villains, borrowing elements from all three designs to eventually make Sigma for the first game. The designs of those three characters were then later reworked to be the X-Hunters of Mega Man X2.

Attachment Deathtanz Mantisk often says the Japanese onomatopoeic phrase "chikachika". This is often used in Japanese graphic novels and comics to indicate the twitching of someone's eyes. Apparently Mantisk has made a habit of saying this every time something annoys him enough to make his eye twitch.

Franchise: Wario
1
Attachment Wario's in-universe origins have never been completely explored in the games, however there have been attempts to explore his back-story in various officially licensed comics.

The comic "Super Mario: Die Verwandlung" (which translates to Super Mario: The Transformation) shows Wario merging from Mario as a result of a procedure by Dr. Light to cure Mario from his pixelation.

The comic "Mario vs. Wario" shows that during youth, Mario and Wario, when playing together, would often result in Wario getting either hurt or humiliated, believing Mario to be the cause for his bad luck.

The second comic, "Warios Weihnachtsmärchen" (which translates to Wario's Christmas Tale), a parody of A Christmas Carol, shows a flashback of Wario and Mario as babies building sandcastles but because Wario was mean to everybody, Mario would receive all the attention. Also during a graduation ball, Wario wanted to dance with Peach, Princess Toadstool, however because Mario was much nicer to her she instead danced with him.

While all these comics were officially licensed, they have never been acknowledged by Nintendo. Wario has however appeared as a baby in Yoshi's Island DS.

Final Fantasy V

Attachment Exdeath's original Japanese name is (エクスデス, Ekusudesu) or Exodus. This is worth noting as it would appear that Exdeath made appearances prior to Dissidia. In Final Fantasy XII, there is an esper called Exodus both in the English and Japanese versions that seems to resemble the knight form of Exdeath. In Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, a Totema called Exodus resembles Exdeath's tree form.
