Xenoblade Chronicles
1
Attachment Xenoblade Chronicles was originally going to be titled "Monado: Beginning of the World" and was not intended as an entry into the Xeno series. The original title was last shown at E3 2009 where it was stated the game was named after the protagonist's sword, Monado. In 2010, it was renamed "Xenoblade Chronicles", in honor of Tetsuya Takahashi, the director of the Xenoblade Chronicles and creator of the Xeno series.

Arin Hanson, also known by his YouTuber alias Egoraptor, provided the voice for Dr. Bruce Banner during the development of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance after winning a contest held by Activision. Hanson described the experience recording Banner's lines as "humiliating" as it was the first time he had to work in a professional recording booth let alone for a AAA video game, and believed it was a bad performance. Hanson initially claimed in 2013 that his voice was used in the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS versions of the game, but a DS version does not exist and he is not credited in the PSP version. In a later email correspondence with a user from the Lost Media Wiki, he stated he recorded his voice after Activision informed him that it would be used in select versions of the game, those being the Wii, PSP and PlayStation 3 versions. Since this was also a local contest, Activision assumed that all auditions were coming from Los Angeles and in the surrounding areas. Hanson got a "congratulations" email and was invited to Los Angeles for recording, but he was unavailable at the time. His recordings ultimately went unused in favor of another voice actor due to time constraints from Hanson only getting a chance to record late in development. However, his unused recordings would end up being added in the 2016 re-release of the game.

Attachment At one point in time, both Link from The Legend of Zelda series and Samus Aran from the Metroid series were playable characters. The reason why both of them were removed is unknown, but it is speculated that it is due to Nintendo being shown the character in a PlayStation 2 version of the game, and that they weren't happy with their characters appearing on a competitor's console.
Portal
1
Attachment At the end of Portal, Spoiler:when GLaDOS is disconnected and laying in the driveway, a hoop comes out of the air. This was VALVe's attempt at a new meme. Not knowing that "The Cake Is A Lie" would become the resident Portal meme, Hoopy the Hoop was lost into obscurity. The developers consider this the greatest disappointment in Portal.
Conker's Bad Fur Day

1
There was a sequel being developed called "Conker's Other Bad Day", however it was canceled.

The plot would've dealt with Conker's bad tenure as King after spending the treasury money on beer, parties and hookers. The game started with his escape, with a ball and chain attached to him, from the Castle's highest tower where he had been faced with the prospect of execution.

"We actually started on a direct sequel which was going to be called "˜Conker's Other Bad Day"˜ which dealt with Conker's somewhat unsuccessful tenure as King. He spends all the treasury money on beer, parties and hookers. Thrown into prison, Conker is faced with the prospect of execution and the game starts with his escape, ball and chain attached, from the Castles highest tower." - Chris Seavor

Platform: Virtual Boy
1
Attachment The Virtual Boy came to be through an exclusive agreement between Nintendo and the Massachusetts-based company Reflection Technology, Inc., who had developed a monochrome red LED eyepiece display called Scanned Linear Array. General manager Gunpei Yokoi kept the red LEDs while developing the console instead of using a full-color LCD display for several reasons. Both companies claimed color LCDs would have been prohibitively more expensive, retailing at $500 ($1000 when adjusted for inflation in 2023), and tests of the displays were said to have caused visual glitches such as "jumpy images" and players "[seeing] double" instead of seeing depth. Yokoi preferred red LEDs as they were the cheapest option and used a more recognizable color, and unlike a backlit color LCD, he believed the contrasting black color could add a more immersive sense of depth.

It should be noted that a full-color LED Virtual Boy was impossible to release in 1995 due to the fact that high-efficiency blue and green LEDs only became available in 1996. The Virtual Boy, which uses an oscillating mirror to transform a 1-D line of dots to a 2-D field of dots, requires high-performance LEDs in order to function correctly. Without the high-efficiency blue and green LEDs, the Virtual Boy was limited to the red LED display.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
1
Attachment While under cover, Solid Snake assumes the name Iroquois Pliskin. "Iroquois" means "Black Snake" in the Iroquoian language, Huron. And "Pliskin" is a reference to the character Snake Plissken from the film "Escape from New York", which was the main inspiration for the development of Solid Snake. Naked Snake (Big Boss), Solid Snake, and Solidus Snake each wear an eye-patch like Snake Plissken.
