Franchise: SaGa
1
Attachment The SaGa series started out as a Final Fantasy spinoff in North America, as the first three SaGa games were released there as Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 despite not having any connection to the common themes in the series. The initial plan was to release them as The Great Warrior Saga, but the name was presumably changed due to marketing purposes. The series continued with the SaGa name in all the subsequent games.

subdirectory_arrow_right Diddy Kong Pilot (Game)

Kingdom Hearts II
1
Attachment The Fenrir Keyblade's appearance in Kingdom Hearts II is based on a pin tumbler lock key unlike all other Keyblades. The name comes from Norse mythology and is also a reference to Cloud's motorcycle in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.
Resident Evil
1
The Barry Lives ending had a major change to it. Spoiler:In the original, Wesker was decapitated in the power room by an unknown creature and his body was laying next to the control panel. In the remake, it was implied that he got away, as his body was missing.
Crash Twinsanity
1
Attachment N. Trance was originally going to make an appearance in Crash Twinsanity in a cutscene in which Evil Crash eats his brain with a spoon "like an egg". The scene was scrapped because it was "a bit gross". The only trace of N.Trance left in Twinsanity is his concept art.
Crash Twinsanity
1
Before going to the 10th dimension, Dr. Cortex says "Come now, as we explore a new dimension! It should have been two new dimensions but we... ran out of time." This is a reference to the development period of 12 months, as the development team originally wanted to put another world into the game. However, due to time constraints, the world was scrapped.
Minecraft: Java Edition

Attachment A block known as Crying Obsidian was originally planned as a way for the player to set a new respawn point, but was abandoned and removed from the game after the release of beds.
Pokémon Black Version
subdirectory_arrow_right Pokémon White Version (Game)
1
Attachment On Route 10 in the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, Picnicker Carol gives a description of a chunky, pink Pokemon with a floral pattern. This description is what Munna was based on.
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
1
Attachment Ripto received his name through the Japanese katakana for Spyro (スパイロ). On the illustration, Insomniac felt that it looked like it spelt out 'Ripto' and thus his name was created.
Banjo-Kazooie
1
When Mumbo turns you into a creature he says "Oominaka." Grant Kirkhope, Mumbo's voice actor, revealed that at the time of recording the voices for the game his left testicle was swollen. "Knackers" is British slang for testicles, so he thought it would be funny if Mumbo said "Ooh, my Knackers." Thus, every time that Mumbo uses his magic to turn you into a creature, he's actually complaining that his testicles are in pain.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
subdirectory_arrow_right Banjo-Threeie (Game), Banjo X (Game)
2
Attachment According to developer Gregg Mayles, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts was actually the third attempt at creating 'Banjo-Threeie', the third installment in the main line of the franchise. The first attempt was supposedly Banjo X, an unfinished build for the original Xbox which featured some new assets and items. The second attempt, was a re-make of Banjo-Kazooie with some twists, and would have possibly featured Gruntilda following the duo around different worlds and trying to outdo them.
Limbo of the Lost

Red Faction: Guerrilla
1
Once the Geo Mod 2 engine was fully implemented, all the game's buildings fell down.

The developers had to go back and make sure their buildings were built with real-life architectural standards in mind so that the buildings would support themselves.
Super Mario 64
1
In early development of the game when Nintendo were working on character movement and camera angles, they only had two characters; MIPS the rabbit and Mario. MIPS was planned to be just a testing dummy, but made it into the final game because they didn't want to part with him.
D
1
Because the storyline and graphic FMVs were more horrifying than any video game that had yet been released, head developer Kenji Eno resorted to a trick in order to get D published.

The game was originally developed with no storyline, and Eno kept the story sequences a secret even from the other members of WARP. When the game was finished, he submitted a 'clean' version (i.e. without the violent and disturbing story content of the complete version) for approval.

He deliberately submitted the master disc late, knowing that part of the penalty was that he would have to deliver it by hand to the manufacturers in the USA. While on the plane, he switched the phony 'clean' discs with the finalized discs, thus completely bypassing all censorship.
Sonic the Hedgehog
1
Attachment Sonic was going to have a human girlfriend named Madonna. This was to copy Mario's girlfriend at the time, Pauline. She was removed by the product manager, Madeline Schroeder. She wanted to remove Madonna as to "soften" Sonic for children and foreign countries, as she thought the concept was too "Japanese". The concept of a human girlfriend was later used for Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)'s Princess Elise.
Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django
1
There is a mission in which you must purify a coffin that contains "Shademan." During the fight, Django will work with Mega Man to defeat Shademan.

Devil May Cry
1
Dante used the name Tony Redgrave as an alias in his early days of demon slaying. When asked about the name, director Hideki Kamiya stated that "Antonio Redgrave was a journalist that Dante respected, so he used it as his fake name during his days as a mercenary..." In Bayonetta, Luka's father, Antonio Redgrave, was a world famous journalist that documented supernatural events, people, and places. It's very likely that the two Tonys may be the same person.
