Final Fight
1
In the Japanese version, when you finish the car smashing bonus stage, the car's owner will come out and yell, "Oh, my god!". In the North American version, it was changed to him yelling, "Oh, my car!".
Resident Evil 2

Attachment The S.T.A.R.S. group photo has an unidentified member on the far left. It is speculated that he is either the predecessor of Rebecca Chambers or an early concept of Kevin Dooley, an RPD pilot who sometimes helped the S.T.A.R.S. team on their missions. The latter would make sense as there is an RPD helicopter in the background.
Resident Evil Zero
1
In the N64 beta of the game, STARS Bravo Team member Edward Dewey is found missing a right hand, after being attacked by Cerberus dogs. This would explain the severed hand holding a gun that would be found by Joseph Frost in the original Resident Evil.

In the final game he still has both hands as the remake of Resident Evil no longer has Joseph finding a severed hand.
Resident Evil 2

Two of the characters in the game, gun shop owner Robert Kendo, and police officer Marvin Branagh, originally had much larger parts in Resident Evil 1.5, with Robert Kendo (Originally named "John") helping Elza Walker out and Marvin accompanying Leon and Ada throughout his story. At one point in 1.5, it appears that Marvin, rather than Sherry in the final game, is infected with a virus and the player has to get him a cure.

In the final game, both die fairly early on, and the player even has to kill a zombified Marvin in their character's "A" scenario.
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
1
The Two Thrones started out as "The Kindred Blades". It had the same dark tone as Warrior Within, a different model for the dark prince, and some changes to the story (Spoiler:such as Kaileena unleashing the Sands of Time by killing herself in order to save the Prince, instead of being killed by the Vizier for him to gain god-like powers).
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Attachment The Gerudo, a race first introduced in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, were largely inspired by the Arabic and Egyptian civilizations in the medieval Middle East. This can be alluded to by the Arabic and Egyptian themed locations and sculptures that the series has has to offer, in addition to the original design of the Crest of the Gerudo resembling an Islamic star and crescent. This symbol can be seen throughout the original release of Ocarina of Time on blocks, floor switches, and even the Mirror Shield. The similarities to the Islamic symbol caused controversy, and was changed to a new symbol in all re-releases of the game.

Dishonored
1
The mission Lady Boyle's Last Party is loosely based off Edgar Allan Poe's story "The Masque of the Red Death".
Final Fantasy XIII
2
Serah was planned to be the 7th member of the team, but due to issues during development, she was turned into an NPC. The idea of making her playable turned into a reality with Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Mass Effect 3
1
Attachment The Illusive Man was first intended to turn into a Reaper creature in Mass Effect 3. This plan was later scrapped as the developers wanted to give players the satisfaction of fighting a character they knew rather than a random creature, highlighting the fact that the Illusive Man's weapon is his intelligence, not his physical strength.
Final Fantasy XIII
1
According to the Final Fantasy XIII Ultimania Omega, at one point in time, Vanille was considered to be the official main character. The idea was scrapped as the development team had already released a trailer and art featuring Lightning taking the role.
Pokémon Ruby Version
subdirectory_arrow_right Pokémon Sapphire Version (Game)
1
Attachment Gastrodon and Shellos were supposed to appear in Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire. Due to time constraints they weren't added. Ken Sugimori only did one version of the Pokemon (there are two varieties in Diamond and Pearl).
Company: Quintet
1
Attachment In the games Soulblazer, ActRaiser 2, Illusion of Gaia and Robotrek, Quintet has included attacks based on the image of the Phoenix, or Firebird. In all the games the attacks are very powerful, and with the exception of ActRaiser 2 where the attack is available at the start, they are found very late in the game. In the cases of Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia, both games having loose connections to each other, the ability is gained as part of the story and used to fight the final bosses.
Luigi's Mansion
1
Using an Action Replay code, it's possible to actually walk around E. Gadd's lab. There are two doors, one of which says "Training" that most likely went to the Training room, and one that likely went to the Ghost Portrificationizer room. There is also a functional ladder, but it doesn't lead anywhere. This suggests that in an earlier version of the game the player could travel to E.Gadd's lab by means of a ladder somewhere in the mansion.
Pokémon Red Version
1
Attachment The original Red and Green Versions were supposed to have a female trainer along with the male trainers, Red and Blue. She was most likely removed due to hardware restrictions, but is still seen on the official strategy guide and artwork. The character was used as the character 'Green' in the comic and 'Leaf' in the remake, FireRed and LeafGreen.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
1
Revolver Ocelot was going to Spoiler:have a mechanical hand after Ninja chopped it off in the last game. However, Liquid Snake was very popular with the fans, so Hideo Kojima decided to change the story so Ocelot received a transplant from the deceased Liquid Snake, creating Liquid Ocelot.
Franchise: Resident Evil
1
Attachment There was an unreleased spinoff to the series called 'Resident Evil Dash'. It was supposed to be released between the first and second games, but got cancelled so it wouldn't hinder the development of Resident Evil 2. Ironically, that game ended up being delayed anyway. They ditched the original plans and started from scratch, which prompted them to appease fans by releasing a Resident Evil 2 demo disc with the Director's Cut version of Resident Evil 1. Dash was set 3 years after the first game in the ruins of the Spencer Mansion.
ActRaiser 2
1
Just as the main bosses of the game represent the Seven Deadly Sins, major locations of the game have a symbolic or ironic connection with the demon that is plaguing them.

Diligence and Industen (Industrious) were once the hardest of workers, but then became so weak that they even lost the will to live.

The queen of Devote, instead of devoting herself to others, was so incredibly jealous of all other beautiful things that she sank her kingdom under the sea.

Temponia and Modero (Temperance and Moderation) once had extravagant amounts of food, but then starved.

The former friendly nations of Favorian and Justania (Favor and Justice) were engaged in a bloody war brought on by the demon Fury. The demon filled the Justanian king's heart with wrath.

The king of Lovaous (Love) was plagued by the demon Deception in his dreams, which filled his mind with thoughts of lust.

The king of Stormrook, overcome by greed, takes all of his citizens' money and sends them to a prison called Gratis, which means "for free", a play on words both for greed and for a prison.

Humbleton (Humble), a highly civilized, technologically advanced nation with no faith in the master, enacted a plan to build a tower (Tower of Souls/Babel) to reach the heavens and become Masters themselves.
Night Trap
1
The game was once taken off the selves of Toys "R" Us and F.A.O. Schwarz stores for being too violent and sexual. This was in response to the Senate Judiciary and Government Affairs Committee hearing on video game violence in 1993.
Rayman Origins
1
According to beta art, an orange Teensy Wizard was planned to be a playable character. He even appears on the game's disc. But he was cut for unknown reasons. If you pull on the Bubble Dreamers beard while playing as the Teensy Wizard, he will say, "Aren't you one of the magical Teensy twins!? You guys tied for second in last year's Snoring Competition! Gratz! I laughed so hard at your schnoz-ballads that I fell off my perch... Bless your noble nostrils!" This twin is quite possibly the orange wizard.
Anarchy Reigns
1
Attachment The enemy "Cybrid Joe" is a nod to an enemy from God Hand "Tiger Joe". Outside of having similar names, they both have identical animations and move sets. Many of the developers at Platinum Games came from Clover Studio, who made God Hand.
