Attachment The PlayStation Vita has a slot nicknamed the "accessory port." It is situated on the top of the Vita to the right of the game card slot, but it has never been utilized. The Vita redesign model does not have this port, implying that it may or may not be utilized at all in the future.

Metroid II: Return of Samus
1
The signature large shoulders of Samus' Varia Suit debuted here and were born out of necessity. In the previous game, the Varia suit was shown as a pink palette swap of the normal suit.

Because of the Game Boy's limited color palette however (it could only display around 4 different shades of black and white) drastic visual changes had to be implemented to let the players tell the Varia Suit from the normal suit. The Varia Suit was thus given larger shoulders which have since become the most defining feature of Samus' armor throughout the series.

This also affected Samus' Arm Cannon's missile launcher function. In the previous game, Samus' Arm Cannon turned blue when its Missile launcher was active. However, because of the limited color palette, in Metroid II, Missile mode is shown as the tip of the Arm Cannon opening and extending outward which has also been featured in later games.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

According to Ryota Niitsuma, producer of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, this game was released as a stand-alone disk instead of DLC because the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan threw off their development schedule.

Niitsuma: After the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 there were plans to release DLC. But, as you know, less than a month after the game was released we had the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. That had an impact on everything, and it threw off our whole development schedule. We decided that instead of doing the DLC we could put it all together in one package, add some additional stuff to make it robust and deliver it as a disc.

Kakuto Chojin: Back Alley Brutal

The Islamic chant first heard in Cruis'n World and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, was used in the music track "Love/Hate Chant" which serves as the theme for the character Asad. The track had soon after caused controversy, prompting the game to be subsequently pulled from store shelves. The chant comes from a sound library collection called "Voice Spectral - Volume 1" released by 'best service'.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Attachment Dead Rising's Frank West was originally meant to appear in the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as a playable character. However, Frank was cut from the game for causing unspecified lag issues. Interestingly enough, it was confirmed that the helicopter pilot Chun-Li was riding into the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier in the second promotion cutscene of the original Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was Frank West. Frank West's silhoutte can also still be seen in the background of one of the original Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 promotional art pieces. Frank West would later become playable in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

Many features of the game were cut, but are still in the files. These include buses, drive-bys, difficulty selection, racing, a subway system, taxis and sitting.
Half-Life
1
The premise for this game was inspired by the Steven King book, The Mist, which is about how a slew of monsters ravages a city after a test in a secret military base goes awry. The code name of the project, Quiver, is a reference to the name of the military base, Arrowhead.
Dissidia Final Fantasy
1
Dissidia Final Fantasy was originally planned as a Kingdom Hearts spin-off, but Disney did not approve of their characters fighting each other.
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

Two books were big references in the development of the game. The first book was "The General History of Pyrates," which provided a solid historical foundation for the game to use, as well using a German style of capitalizing all nouns, which Ubisoft used in the game's subtitles. The second book was "The Republic of Pirates," which helped the team establish the hub town, real life Nassau, which was a famous stopping point for pirates. The book's author, Colin Woodard, was so much of a influence that he was asked to join the development team to make the game more accurate.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Attachment An L-train was planned to be used as an interactive element in at least one multiplayer map. Scripting and a kill icon can still be found in the games code, however, none of the released maps feature a subway system, so it's unknown where this might have been used.

The script reveals that it would have been a 24-car train, causing rumble effects, moving at 1200 units/second every 100-200 seconds, shaking the screen of anybody standing nearby and killing anyone standing in its path.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Franchise: Lemmings
1
Attachment The Lemmings series were the inspiration for the Red Clay Army, an army of golems controlled by an icon-driven interface who would climb, dig and march when commanded to, in the 1994 Discworld novel "Interesting Times" by Terry Pratchett.

When asked about the Red Clay Army's connection to the Lemmings series, Pratchett said,

"What? Lemmings? Merely because the red army can fight, dig, march and climb and is controlled by little icons? Can't imagine how anyone thought that...

Not only did I wipe Lemmings from my hard disc, I overwrote it so's I couldn't get it back."
