In an issue of Nintendo Power previewing the game, a screenshot shows pictures of two unused items. These were a set of secret documents and a cloaking device that may have allowed the player to skip an important battle in the game. Both items were replaced by a bundle of Dilithium in the final game.

Pavel is based off of Pavel Trofimovich Morozov, a figure in Soviet history. According to popular legend, he was a 13-year martyr who denounced his father to the authorities, and was in turn killed by his family. Since that time, Russians are known to call Spoiler:traitors "Pavlik Morozov", suggesting that they betray their closest associates.

The idea of Snake hiding within a cardboard box to avoid enemy detection was inspired by the novel Hako Otoko (Box Man) by Abe Kobo, because Hideo Kojima is a fan of Kobo's novels.

The novel centers around a man who abandons the modern world and chooses to live and observe the "mad world" of Tokyo from within a "waterproof world", i.e the cardboard box he carries on his back.

Myth Makers: Trixie in Toyland, as well as the games Ninjabread Man, Anubis II and Rock 'n' Roll Adventures, (all of which were developed by Data Design Interactive) all reuse the same assets and models, but reskinned to fit with their respective themes. Though the levels in each game are arranged differently, the layouts of each of the games' tutorial levels are all identical.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Through use of Gameshark or Action Replay cheats, it is possible to get "Saria's Song", as well as the "Sun's Song" from Ocarina of Time. The "Sun's Song" has no difference from Ocarina of Time, and fast-forwards time to the next day. "Saria's Song", however, doesn't do anything.
God of War

In the PS3 re-release, it's possible to obtain a trophy called "Speed of Jason McDonald," which is obtained for beating the game in under 5 hours. The trophy is named after Jason McDonald, the Senior Combat Designer for God of War III, who held the office record for the best speed-run for God of War.

After the development for Sonic Colors ended, a few members of Sonic Team began experimenting with a new Sonic game. During this time, Sonic Team also planned to build a game which fully utilized the 3DS' various features. Eventually, between the release of Sonic Generations and the announcement of the Wii U, development for a PC version of Sonic Lost World had fully begun. Sega eventually decided it would be best to develop the game for a Nintendo platform, considering Sonic's success on Nintendo consoles, and started to develop a Wii U version of the game, taking advantage of the Wii U's dual-screen capability and Gamepad. Once the basic stage structure and storyline was confirmed, development also began on a 3DS version of the game.

Attachment In the mission "Fresh Meat", the opening cutscene was almost entirely improvised by the two main actors (Steven Ogg as Trevor and Shawn Fonteno as Franklin). During motion-capture, Ogg tripped over an obstacle and Fonteno broke out laughing. Upon standing up, Ogg started to yell at Fonteno (in character) and the scene was kept in-game.

At a time during his development, Chuck's last name was Reid, a slight change in the color "Red". His final last name, Greene, plays off this, as it is a slight change of the color "Green". This is most likely a reference to Red Green of The Red Green Show, seeing as they both have an obsession with duct tape.
