Doubutsu no Mori

Attachment In the iQue release, the Carp is recolored red.
Animal Crossing

Attachment In the Japanese version, Dōbutsu no Mori +, two paintings that were present in the original Dōbutsu no Mori, the Dreadful Painting and the Novel Painting, are not obtainable in the normal course of play. However, they still exist in the game's code and can be legitimately brought over to a player's save file by importing one from Dōbutsu no Mori (via Nintendo of Japan's now-defunct Data Moving Service), though they can't be donated to the Museum. In the international release of Animal Crossing, however, these paintings are completely removed, and their index numbers instead point to duplicates of the DUMMY furniture item.

It's likely that the decreasing accessibility of these paintings was due to the fact that their real-world equivalents, Edvard Munch's "The Scream" and Piet Mondrian's "Composition with Red, Yellow, and Blue", were still under copyright at the time. The Munch and Mondrian portfolios wouldn't enter the public domain until 2015, well after the Dreadful and Novel paintings were retired from the series.

When Sora holds a battering Item or certain other items (such as a Mr. Saturn) he assumes the same idle stance that he did whenever he turned into Valor Form, one of the drive forms in Kingdom Hearts II that allows him to dual-wield two Keyblades, which in turn is also the basis for one of his alternate costumes in this game.
The Sims 3
1
Attachment In June 2010, several players noticed that a package file was attaching itself to other packages in The Sims 3. The file was a corrupted girl doll object titled "Girl Doll Dressed", which was incorrectly cloned from the Teddy bear. Game installations became "infected" by players downloading lots, houses or Sims with the hidden doll attached, similar to how computer viruses spread, and the doll was determined to cause longer loading times and game crashes. Players then unknowingly uploaded these infected packages to The Exchange, the game's online custom content workshop, causing it to spread to even more players.

Many Sims community sites began reporting the issue and one user posted a guide on how to manually remove the doll from the game to prevent the glitch from spreading, and a SimGuru on EA's official Sims forum eventually responded with a stickied post informing the community about the issue, and stated that EA would patch the game in the future to institute measures preventing corrupted objects from being uploaded to The Exchange.

Wang Koh-San's full name is changed to "Park" in the Korean version of the game.
Dark Souls III

In the Alpha build of the game and its E3 2015 demo, the game originally revealed story elements in the form of "Epitaphs", small gravestones spread throughout Lothric which upon offering a flame to it will display a text blurb with a lore-related message on each. In the English version of the Alpha build, some Epitaphs have no text due to the feature having been scrapped by that time, however in the Japanese version of the Alpha build, the data for all Epitaph texts and most of their physical placements on the game's map exist, albeit some are out-of-bounds or clustered together as their locations had not been finalized before being scrapped.

Because the European version of the SNES port was on a smaller cartridge, Big Bear, Cheng Sinzan, Axel Hawk, and Laurence Blood had to be removed along with their respective stages to fit the smaller cart size, whereas Ryo Sakazaki is playable from the start.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
1
A Famitsu column with game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series was able to get into the game because of a chance meeting that he had with a Disney executive at an unspecified awards ceremony where they expressed how cool it would be for him to be a part of the Super Smash Bros. roster. This soon led to negotiations between Nintendo, Square Enix, and Disney that eventually got the extremely highly requested character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Before then, Sakurai admitted he and Nintendo thought getting the Disney-owned character was a total impossibility.
Ninja Gaiden

The German rating board deemed the game's gore and violence excessive and refused to rate the game at all. Since this had the potential to place the game on Germany's "List of Media Harmful to Young People", banning shops from either advertising or selling the game to customers of 18 years or older, Tecmo censored the PAL version to obtain a rating. A year later, Tecmo managed to obtain an 18+ rating for the uncensored release of Ninja Gaiden Black.
FIFA Soccer 2005

Attachment The North American cover features Oswaldo Sanchez, Fernando Morientes, and Andriy Shevchenko. However, when the game was released in Europe as FIFA Football 2005, Patrick Vieira replaced Sanchez.
Final Fantasy X
1
According to a 2001 developer interview published in V-Jump magazine, the game's character designer Tetsuya Nomura stated the main character's name, Tiida (Tidus in the international release), was the Okinawan word for "sun". After Final Fantasy VIII, the team wanted to give their next main character a brighter and more cheerful personality. Kazushige Nojima gave Tiida his name, and Nomura thought he had a "bright" motif for the character in mind considering his name's meaning.

Attachment In the initial release of Chapter 2, interacting with Undyne's desk after goading her into breaking it generates the placeholder text "[NO TEXT] (obj_npc_room)"; a subsequent patch resolved the issue by making the desk impossible to interact with after it's broken.

Attachment In the Japanese version of Chapter 2, the cell Queen places Kris in (which is decorated with items based on their internet search history) includes only a single Toriel hologram rather than two. This is due to the fact that the pun involved with the pair (Kris mis-typing "video game piano tutoriel") can't be easily conveyed in Japanese.
Mario Paint
1
Attachment Updated versions of the game were distributed online via the Satellaview service in Japan; these versions support standard controllers as well as the Super NES Mouse. The "Yuushou Naizou Ban" version of the game also adds the picture "Dreaming of the Moon" by Mizota Hiroko of Tokyo, the winner of a contest associated with an earlier updated version of the game titled "Mario Paint BS-Ban".
Super Double Dragon

Originally, several cutscenes and stage obstacles were produced for the game that was meant to be included in the final retail version. However, due to time constraints the cutscenes had to be removed from the final game.
Renegade
1
The game's title, graphics, and story were completely changed for the international version. The original Japanese title, "Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun", was changed to "Renegade". The retooled western version took inspiration from the films Enter the Dragon and moreso The Warriors, and the story altered from a high school student rescuing his friend, to be about an adult man rescuing his girlfriend.

The original Japanese version of the game is a semi-autobiography based on the teenage high school years of the creator, Yoshihisa Kishimoto, with the protagonist Kunio-kun loosely based on himself. A self-proclaimed rebellious youth, Kishimoto says he got into fights in school on a daily basis, which, he explains in retrospect, was partially the result of a rough break-up. "There were family reasons as well, but there was a girl and she dumped me, which pulled the trigger," he says.
The King of Fighters XII
1
Prior to the game's console release, SNK celebrated the series' 15-year anniversary by updating the official King of Fighters website to feature images of K' and Mai Shiranui in the game's art style. This led to speculation that the two characters would be playable on the console versions of the game. This ended up being false, with both K' and Mai becoming absent from the final roster, with Elisabeth and Mature substituting as console-exclusive characters.
Madden NFL 09

Attachment The original cover athlete is former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre. Five days before the game was released in North America, Favre had been traded to the New York Jets. Rather than recalling all copies, EA allowed fans to print out a brand new cover featuring Favre now in the New York Jets uniform.
