Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

Attachment Like Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Paper Jam also had "Bros." added to its name in the UK release, again with no official reason given.

However, given that there are already two trademarks for "PaperJam" as well as a brand of toys that were sold in the UK under the name "Paper Jamz", it is more than likely Nintendo repeated the easier road by adding "Bros."

The character intro prologues have some slight differences between regions. For example, Bryan Fury's prologue in Japanese states that "Brian came to the realization that his life was quickly coming to an end", while the international release states that "Brian realized that the end of his life was near". Another example is in Paul's prologue, which says that his friends and admirers slowly dissapeared. This is not mentioned in the International version of that character's prologue.

The narrator of these stories also differs between regions. In the Japanese version the narration is done by the game's announcer, Antonio Ploszay. Meanwhile in the international release they are done by an unknown voice actor.

In 2020, an unused level was discovered in the PC version of the game called Ruins of Joy Town that was meant to be played after The Goblin Fort level, but before Joy Castle. The unused level appears to be mostly completed, but lacks background music.

Attachment In the European version, the demo clip depicting Mario collecting a ring of coins in Whomp's Fortress sees him grab one less coin than in all other versions of the game, resulting in two coins being left on-screen instead of just one. Oddly, this is the only change made to the game's demo videos between regions.

The WWE 2K20 SmackDown! 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition would normally come with a "Legend Autographed Plaque" of either Edge, Kurt Angle, or Rey Mysterio. However, many fans would receive a plaque without a autograph. While 2K had remained silent about the issue for days, Adam Copeland (Edge) would respond via Twitter about the issue telling fans they could mail their plaque's to his P.O. box, and he would sign each of them after returning from his movie shoot.

The unique style of ending for the Spoiler:Yozora secret boss battle at the end of the ReMind DLC, where players obtain a different ending depending on if they win or lose the boss battle, was because Tetsuya Nomura and his team thought the fight was too extremely difficult and so wanted to give something to players that lost even if it did nothing for the series' canon.

In the original release of Chapter 2, Spoiler:the "WRECK", "PAUSE", and "SPEW" VCR icons that appear during Spamton NEO's ultimate attack only showed up during the hidden Weird Route, and thus were absent from his fight during the normal route. While this difference was initially interpreted by fans as an intentional artistic decision, in actuality it was the result of an oversight: Spoiler:the icons were coded to appear at certain coordinates relative to the room where Spamton NEO is encountered. Because the fight on the normal route moved Spamton NEO and the player far out of range, the icons were consequently left offscreen.

This error was eventually fixed in the v1.08 patch, with Spoiler:the icons appearing in the proper location on both routes instead of just one. The patch additionally adds a new smoke effect after Spoiler:Spamton NEO's ultimate attack ends on both routes.

In Platinum and HeartGold & SoulSilver, Bidoof's gender difference has more to it than in any other game. In Diamond & Pearl and every future game after HG/SS, Bidoof's gender difference is that the male has an additional 2 curls on the tail. However in these 3 games, Bidoof's patch of white around the face has a more pronounced bump in between the eyes on the male, with a more flattened bump on the female. Whether this is intentional or not is unknown, but due to the fact it was fixed later in Generation V, it's safe to assume this was a mistake.

It is possible to unlock an alternate ending sequence featuring Yogurt. The requirements to unlock this ending are unknown, but an unsubstantiated claim on a fan forum suggests it could be tied to unlocking the alternate bikini outfits which are only in the Japanese version of the game.

The American version subtitle name for the game is “High Stakes.” According to the “Designer Diaries,” developers chose this name because previous installments lacked the “sense of risk and consequences.” “High Stakes” is also the name of the mode, where a player could lose a saved car during a race, and have to spend money to upgrade it.

Attachment In the very first Japanese release of the game, at the bottom of the well in Corel Prison, a rare debug enemy known as "Test 0" that was accidentally left in the game on its initial release can be randomly encountered. This encounter does not require cheats or hacks to occur, although GameShark codes can be used to access every other debug enemy battle in the game. This battle was removed from all future releases of the game. "The Completely Unauthorized Final Fantasy VII Ultimate Guide" by Versus Books, released in 1997, features an entry on this enemy (note that the HP listing in the guide scan is incorrect; Test 0 has 30000 HP).

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth nods back to this oversight by making Test 0 a legitimate optional encounter in the Beast Battleground. The nature of its presence in the original game is referenced in the enemy's bestiary entry, which describes it as "A test subject that managed to escape Shinra's R&D Division due to a developer's oversight."

The Sega Saturn version of the game contains hidden files that can only be accessed when loading the game disc on a PC. 15 pieces of character artwork and a text document containing messages from 13 of the Saturn version's developers including graphic artists, members of the sound team, and programmers can be found. The messages contain insights about their duties, goals and struggles in porting the game from the PlayStation to the inferior Saturn, with several members of the staff having just entered the video game industry and joined Konami prior to work starting on the port. Collectively, they had mixed to positive feelings about the final result, with most being happy with their work, while others feeling they had failed to live up to the PlayStation version. Regardless, much of the staff thanked players for playing the game and encouraged them to mail feedback to them at Konami.

Two notable details from these messages include:

•A story/rant shared by programmer Hideto Imai in the last and longest message about his experience in violating Japan's Motor Vehicle Storage Act by parking his car curbside while staying at his in-laws during development.

•A scrapped character idea shared by graphic designer Yoshinori Suzuki:

"There's actually another version of Maria with a full set of graphics different from the one the player meets in the actual game. It ended up going unused. It might've been neat if she had been used, though. Because she was a dark version of Maria, the opposite to the light version of Maria, her attacks and such would have been entirely different. Go ahead and imagine for yourselves what she might have been like. (Perhaps, if she'd appeared in the game, she'd have been called Black Maria?)"
