League of Legends
1
Attachment The skin Dark Star Cho'Gath was made in collaboration with a critically ill League of Legends player named Bryan, who met Riot Games through a partnership with the non-profit charity the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Bryan wished to "meet the creators of Riot Games, and make a skin with them." Dark Star Cho'Gath was chosen between three skin designs and inspired by Bryan's love of outer space. The skin's theme music is based on a clarinet performance from Bryan. All profits collected from the skin until July 20, 2018 were donated to various non-profit organizations around the world.

Sea of Stars
4
Originally, YouTuber Jirard Khalil (most famous for his webseries "The Completionist") made a cameo in Sea of Stars as an NPC named "Jirard the Constructionist", who you could donate building plans to to help construct new buildings in the town of Mirth as part of the "Home Neat Home" achievement. This cameo came after Khalil had previously featured unique builds of Sea of Stars, including one featuring Jirard the Constructionist, during his annual indie game spotlight charity event "IndieLand", which was run by his official charity organization, the Open Hand Foundation. In November 2023, a few months after the game's release, Khalil was accused of committing charity fraud through the organization, spawning a controversy that prompted the game's developers to release a patch for the game that removed his cameo, and replacing him with a generic NPC named Bob. Considering Bob is a builder, this new character may be a reference to the children's animated series "Bob the Builder".

Wanted!: Monty Mole
1
The choice to portray real-life political figures, specifically the union leader Arthur Scargill and prime minister Margaret Thatcher, as villains in Wanted! Monty Mole was a PR stunt and successful attempt to rile the news media, and not an attempt to push any one political ideology. When called out for the stunt, Gremlin Graphics offered to donate 5 pence to the Miner's Welfare Fund per £6.95 copy sold, a donation that was rejected.

Save the Whales
subdirectory_arrow_right 20th Century Fox Games (Company)
1
In the early 1980s, 20th Century Fox's game division planned to release a trio of environmentalist games designed by Steve Beck - Save the Whales, Dutch Elm Defender, and Attack of the Baby Seals - to raise money for various charities and organizations. None of them were released, and Save the Whales is both the only one with a known attached charity (Greenpeace) and the only one that ever entered development.
Splatoon 2

0
In 2020, after Nintendo sent a cease & desist to the major Super Smash Bros. tournament The Big House for using emulated Slippi netplay in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, participants in an official Splatoon 2 tournament collectively changed their tags to include the phrase "#FreeMelee". Shortly after, Nintendo would cancel the tournament, with their statement simply pertaining to "unexpected executional challenges".

In response to this, the Splatoon community hosted their own tournament in tribute to The Big House, titled "The Squid House" - this would end up becoming the biggest Splatoon series tournament to date, attracting 7,000 viewers and raising $28,000 USD, with $3,000 going to charity while the rest went to the participants.

1
On October 24, 2023, Nintendo released a list of "Community Guidelines" for eSports events surrounding their games in Europe and Japan - these rules received major backlash from competitive Smash and Splatoon players and were theorized as being intended to directly stifle Nintendo's competitive communities. With particular criticism going towards:

• Enforcing a maximum player count of 200 per day for in-person tournaments
• Enforcing a cash prize maximum at £9,000 / €10,000 and prohibiting sponsors from funding events
• pre-Switch games (particularly Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros.) not being available for licensing
• Not allowing titles from Nintendo's games to be used in branding, even including shortened variants such as "Splat" or "Smash".
• Banning modified, emulated, or fan-made games - the prior two being essential parts of modern day competitive Melee.
• Food, drink, and merchandise sale being banned from venues
• Arguably most damningly, requiring official licensing for smaller-scale high school charity events.

Ultimate Custom Night
1
YouTuber The Game Theorists held a charity livestream in 2020 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Crowd Control, an interactive gaming app that lets streamers produce interactive, monetizable content with their community, created a mod for Ultimate Custom Night that let viewers of The Game Theorists' stream pay money to have events happen on screen or in-game. At the end of that segment, MatPat stated that this version of the game would become available to the public for other streamers to use, but it was never released.
Freddy in Space 2
1
For YouTube channel The Game Theorists' St. Jude Charity Livestream, the game Freddy in Space 2 was created. Scott Cawthon added a points counter to the game and pledged to donate money based on how many points were earned, up to a maximum of $500,000. Cawthon still donated the full $500,000 to the charity even though MatPat, with the aid of fellow YouTubers Dawko and Markiplier, would not be able to reach the goal in time before they needed to wrap up the stream.
Sleepwalker
1
Though Sleepwalker was released in collaboration with Comic Relief, it was not originally intended as a tie-in with the charity. Rather, when Comic Relief approached Ocean about making a charity game, it was too close to the date of the Red Nose Day telethon for a quality game to be made in time. Comic Relief were instead given a selection from Ocean's development lineup to choose from, and decided on Sleepwalker due to its comedic animations and plot. Comic Relief contributed the design for the bonus stages and allowed them to get British comedian and Comic Relief co-founder Lenny Henry as the voice of Ralph the Dog.
