Erazor Djinn's first name comes from a portmanteau of eraser and razor. This is because he is erasing the Arabian Nights and attacks with a razor based weapon. The name Djinn is an Arabic word meaning "Genie".

The game started out as a port of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), but since they needed a game for the release of the Wii and they wanted to focus on the Wii controller, it was decided to make a brand new game.
