For further clarification, the game runs a check to determine if either criteria has been met. If players collect 40 Fire Flyers, then turn around and collect the last 60, the blue screen will occur.

One early concept for the game revolved around the player constantly growing the tornado. If the player stopped controlling the tornado, it would simply shrink and dissipate.

The first cutscene revolves around a news reporter by the name of Chuck Gavel reporting the strange animal behavior caused by the Fire Flyers possessing them.
