During development, Too Kyo Games' initial deal with a publisher fell through, forcing them to make significant changes to the game such that they needed to take out a loan in order to continue development. However, because the studio couldn't amass the required capital via the sale of shares, they plunged into debt. Aniplex would later take on the publishing for the game. Three months after the game's release, co-director Kazutaka Kodaka revealed that it sold well enough that bankruptcy was no longer a serious concern for the studio.
