Resident Evil 3 was originally planned to star the masked mercenary, HUNK, in a luxury cruiser trying to locate a G-virus sample. During this point, the eventual game was a separate project titled "Biohazard: Gaiden", not to be confused with the GBC title "Resident Evil Gaiden", and designed as a spin-off. Due to an issue with the original project's development time, this "Gaiden" was changed into the actual sequel and given the name "Biohazard 3: Last Escape" while the other project was scrapped.

At its early concepts Biohazard 3: Last Escape was going to have a mode where you could play as a zombified Brad Vickers (cut due to production costs) and Jill would have crossed paths with Leon, Ada and William during the story (cut due to continuity problems).

The game has lots of continuity errors during the visit to Raccoon Police Department. Even though the events of the game coincide with Resident Evil 2, some of the doors are seen barricaded and the yard filled with debris, while this is not the case in Resident Evil 2.

There's a teaser poster for "Biohazard 4" outside a movie theater near the Grill 13 diner. "Biohazard" is the Japanese name for the Resident Evil series. At the time Nemesis was released, "Biohazard 4" probably referred to the game that became Devil May Cry, rather than Resident Evil 4.

While the characters of Resident Evil 2 and 3 crossing paths was cut from the game, it was ultimately written into the manhua (Chinese comic) adaptation of Resident Evil 3.

The name of the pet store "Eagle's Pet Shop", is a references to "Eagle" from Street Fighter series.

It is likely Nicholai Ginovaef's name was mistranslated based on pronunciation, as the only actual Slavic name the original transcript correlates to is Nikolai Zinoviev. Interestingly, in the Russian translation of the movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, his last name was changed to Zhukov.
