Attachment The Russian fighter Soda Popinski was originally named Vodka Drunkenski. They changed his name to avoid controversy. Most of his dialogue still makes it out as though he is in fact supposed to be drunk.

Many of the original Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! cabinets were converted in to "Play Choose 10" cabinets, as they had the same design. Nintendo even sold conversion kits to help arcade operators. Because of this, finding an original intact cabinet of either game is very rare.

Attachment Characters that resemble Mario and Donkey Kong can be seen among the audience if the camera pans over to the left side of the ring. One that looks like Donkey Kong Jr. is also present further in the background, sitting beside another Mario look-alike.

Attachment There are two opponents that did not make it from the arcade release to the NES port; Pizza Pasta and Kid Quick. It's unknown why they were left out.

The original arcade release of Punch-Out!! used two screens at once because Nintendo bought too many arcade monitors after Donkey Kong became a success and with its sales declining, they needed to develop an arcade game to help them get rid of the surplus monitors.

Attachment The game start theme from Punch-Out!!, both the arcade and NES versions, was reused from the NES version of Defender II. The original Defender II version ends with a pastiche of the Star Wars theme, something that was not retained in Punch-Out!!.
