If the player talks to Laharl, the protagonist from Disgaea 1, in the Camp-Pain HQ, he reveals that his scarf is actually a part of his body. This contradicts Disgaea Infinite in which a conversation with Gordon can have Laharl remove his scarf.

When casting high level spells, characters from anime and manga will appear.

Early screenshots showed that when you captured an enemy and "tortured" them, they appear strapped to a medieval torture device known as a wooden horse. This device was almost exclusively used against women, and forced the victim to sit on a pointed wooden structure with their entire body weight, putting their full weight onto their vulva. This was later changed into a cat. This was likely done to lower the CERO (the Japanese version of the ESRB) rating of the game.
