One of the new songs added to this version, "Tohoku EVOLVED", was made as a memorial to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck the Tohoku region of Japan in March 2011. The memorial can be seen in the lyrics ("Our thoughts and prayers are with you") as well as the clear screen, which replaces the normal "CLEARED" message with "Pray for All".

Dance Dance Revolution X3 VS 2ndMix's interface and background music strongly resemble that which appeared in Dance Dance Revolution II/Hottest Party 5.
