In 2007, a computer animated feature based on The Legend of Spyro was announced. The movie would have been based on the then recent Legend of Spyro trilogy, and was originally going to be released around Christmas 2009, but was later pushed back to a different release date and was eventually cancelled. Daniel Altiere, who was a writer on the movie, stated that the movie was officially cancelled due to decisions made by ##Activision## to go in a different direction with the Spyro series, likely making reference to the Skylanders series.
