In the Japanese release, a number of scenes had been edited, despite the game being given a "Z" rating (the highest available). Changes include Trevor Phillips' pants staying on when they're supposed to be down, the teen idol sex scene changed to her just smoking, and the torture gameplay in the mission "By the Book" skipped entirely.

Sir Daniel Fortesque's voice was originally performed by the game's lead designer, Jason Wilson, in MediEvil, after the developers auditioned several actors but could not find anyone they were happy with. In the end, Wilson stepped in to do the voice himself, allegedly reading the lines through gritted teeth while wearing a bucket on his head to get the right effect.

In MediEvil 2, Fortesque was played by British voice actor Marc Silk, with Jason Wilson reprising the role in the PSP reimagining MediEvil: Resurrection. French actor Stephane Cornicard portrayed Dan in his appearance in Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, who Wilson criticized as sounding "a little too much like the Swedish Chef for my liking".
Gone Home

Attachment The Fullbright Company built a prototype of the game in Frictional Games' HPL2 engine, and asked if they could use the engine in the final game. They were turned down as a matter of policy, and encouraged to use the Unity engine instead, which the game was eventually completed in.

After playing the final version, and being informed of its history, Thomas Grip of Frictional Games later asked to see the prototype, stating that he had "Mail Steve about Amnesia: Gone Home" written on his todo list for six months.

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness

The Tsunami Bomb song, "The Invasion From Within", was omitted from the game due to Atlus still holding the rights to the use of the song and the title now being self-published by Nippon Ichi themselves. The Invasion From Within was originally played during the fights against Baal, Prier and the first battle against Maderas.
Folklore

The Japanese release, Folks Soul, has an extra feature called Epigraph Fragments. These pieces of artifacts are scattered throughout Doolin. The player can collect and transfer them to the PSP game "Coded Soul", which was not released outside of Japan.

Attachment When the game was released in Japan, there were several alterations to the gameplay and graphics. These largely consisted of slight changes to cutscenes and alterations to gameplay that made it more difficult.

The most noticeable change is to Sir Dan's character design. Both his in-game and FMV model were changed to have a golden helmet, matching the one that he wore when he was still alive. The helmet can be unequipped in-game, but Dan will always be wearing it in FMVs except for the final cutscene where it is blown off.
According to the game's lead designer, Jason Wilson, the helmet was added because of a fear that Japanese audiences would react badly to Dan's skeletal design, and that they would not see him as a hero.

His eye was also given an iris, whereas in the original it only had a black pupil. This change was retained in all versions of the game's sequel.
Street Fighter II

Attachment Akuma has two different endings depending on whether the player beat M.Bison or Shin Akuma. The text in both endings was removed in releases of the game outside Japan.

In the American releases, all four games received a "Mature Sexual Themes" content warning advisory because of an in-game article regarding internet pornography, even though Infection does not have this news cast. In Europe, Infection did not receive the "Mature Sexual Themes", whereas the other games afterward did.

In the NTSC (USA) release, Holly mistakes Link for Santa Claus, whereas in the PAL (European) release, she mistakes him for a chimney sweep.
Super Smash Bros. Melee

Attachment In the Japanese version, the Motion-Sensor Bomb is based on the Perfect Dark Proximity Mine. Although it was changed in the US version to remove all references to Perfect Dark, the game and it's developer, Rare are still mentioned in the credits. The design of the bomb was changed, though it resembles the design used in the original Smash Bros., which was itself based on the Goldeneye 007 Proximity Mine. The trophy description calls it "a favorite covert weapon of spies and other stealthy operatives.", and the game data only says "TOP SECRET".

The PAL version uses the same design as the US version, but renames it Proximity Mine, and the description mentions the Carrington Institute from Perfect Dark. However, the game is still listed as "TOP SECRET". This is despite the PAL version being released later than the other versions.

Aside from Pikachu and Jigglypuff (whose costume accessories change from game to game), Samus is the only character to have one of her team-based costumes change between games: In the original Smash Bros. and Melee, Samus wears her default (orange) costume when she is on the red team, but in Brawl, her pink costume is used instead. This could be due to the fact that in her Zero Suit, her default costume color is blue. So they needed to give her a new costume that would depict both forms in something closely resembling Red.
Super Mario Bros. 3

The Nintendo Entertainment System version of the game was released twice in English, and the worlds were renamed in the second version.

Desert Hill was changed to Desert World.
Ocean Side was changed to Water Land.
Big Island was changed to Giant Land.
The Sky was changed to Sky Land.
Iced Land was changed to Ice Land.
Pipe Maze was changed to Pipe Land.
Castle of Koopa was changed to Dark Land.

Many changes were made when porting the game to the Game Boy Advance. The changes were made in order to make the game easier, and to accommodate for the system's smaller screen resolution. These changes include adding coins and power-ups, making jumps shorter and easier, and moving platforms so they could fit on the screen.
Super Mario Bros. 2

The Super Mario Bros. 2 manual mistakenly used a few sprites from Doki Doki Panic, such as the Phantos' original form, a magic lamp (which eventually became the Magic Potion), and a heart (which became the Mushroom power-up).
