Attachment The Ballista weapons used by archers usually make the game default to using no animations for the attacks, although the animations for archers actually using them exist in the game and were used in the game's Japan only predecessor, Sword of Seals.

Attachment There are three unused enemies hidden in the game's code. These are CzarDragon, Colossus and an alternate Umaro. The Colossus and Umaro use the same graphics and palettes as other enemies in the game. The Colossus is fairly simple and has a full attack script, and the alternate Umaro is weaker than the original.

CzarDragon however has no script, so when the battle begins, all it does is attack repeatedly. Which is odd, as there's a line of battle dialogue for the enemy, as though it was intended to be fought. The dialogue reads:
Mwa, ha ha... Humans and their desires! I'm free at last! I bring you destruction... I bring you terror... I am Czar... Prepare yourselves!
Taking into account the dialogue and its likeness to Shinryu in Final Fantasy V, it seems as though CzarDragon was intended to be an optional end boss. In the Gameboy Advance rerelease, CzarDragon can be fought under its original Japanese name Kaiser Dragon. It has a unique sprite similar to the SNES design.

During development, series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's mother passed away. At the time, Sakaguchi wanted to craft a story that would show just because somebody has passed on, it doesn't mean that they are forever lost. He also wanted to present a realistic death, rather than a Hollywood sacrificial end. These two desires resulted in the concept of the Lifestream and Aeris' iconic death. The characters continuing to go on, attempting to save the world, after Aeris' death is a reflection of his own feelings coping with his mother's tragic death.

Attachment The Pokemon games (starting with generation II) feature an in-game virus that Pokemon can catch called Pokerus. It can't be healed at a Pokemon center or with items, and can only be contracted by the Pokemon in question once. It has a 3 in 65,536 chance of generating on a Pokemon, either wild or bred. The virus causes Pokemon to gain double the effort values from battles.

The virus will eventually dissipate after two days, all the while remaining highly contagious, though placing an infected Pokemon in the PC will cause the virus to last indefinitely. After the virus is gone, a smiley face (a red dot in Generation II) will appear on the formerly infected Pokemon's status screen, and the positive effects will still remain, particularly the increase in effort values
