Attachment Mother 3 was originally going to be a 3D game for the Nintendo 64 DD add-on. Dubbed "Earthbound 64" by fans, the game was delayed several times due to the little experience the development team had with 3D games. The game would have possibly utilized the N64 DD's features and would also possibly use Mario Artist to create new in-game character faces. The Rumble Pak was also considered to be used during battle sequences. Due to the commercial failure of the N64 DD, the game was canceled but later recreated for the Game Boy Advance.

Since she is supposed to be the reborn image of Mary, she could be seen as a butterfly. Likewise, moths are seen as a symbol of death, and Maria transforms into a swarm of black moths for the final boss. This parallels how James killed Mary.

• The street and sidewalks textures have been changed to look much cleaner.
• The video tape in one of the game's cutscenes is now bordered by a TV screen rather than showing up full-screen.
• The cutscenes are stretched horizontally to appear as widescreen.
• The distances on the sign at the beginning have been altered.

These changes are most likely made because the team was working with unfinished code and had to recreate much of the game.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
1
In an interview with Media Snobs, Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning admitted that Abe was intentionally made to "stand out from the crowd" with his cowardly and dim-witted nature.

"Now back in the 90's the day was filled with muscle bound prepubescent designs of "heroes" that justified shooting everything but didn't really stand for anything that had a modicum of conscious intelligence behind it. No offense to the creators, who I love and had fun with their games, but I'm just calling it how the rest of the world sees it. Or in the opposite gender direction, there was the quickly over saturated anorexic huge bosom sex bomb with a gun. So yeah, we didn't want our heroes to be in those categories, and those were the dominating categories. So we were definitely aiming for separation from the trends."
