Axel was originally going to have an ending like the rest of the default characters. However, it was removed due to potential offense it may cause to both paraplegics and black people, as it has Calypso picking on the disabled driver. This may have also been the reason that he was changed from a default character to an unlockable one, as he would have been the only one who did not have an ending.
Grand Theft Auto III
1
Officially, the protagonist's name in this game is "Claude". Hacking into the game's files, one can find a text string saying "DEFNAME = CLAUDE" which not only made it clear his name was Claude, but also hinted at a removed mechanic allowing the player to rename the main character. As a result, many also believe he is Claude Speed, the protagonist of GTA2.

Sam Houser claimed that the GTA3 protagonist did not have a name as he was merely the player's avatar, but would later be named "Claude" as of San Andreas, as everyone had taken to calling him that.

Attachment There were plans of putting a homeless man named Darkel in the game. His missions were to supposedly have you blow up buildings. He was removed after 9/11 attacks, possibly due to the developers thinking Darkel's character was in bad taste. Despite this, Darkel still remains listed in the manual credits and his character remains in the game's data.

Rockstar claimed that Darkel was removed because he did not tonally fit with the rest of the game, and his removal wasn't related to 9/11.

The co-director of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Aya Kyogoku, revealed that fans got the wrong idea about Tom Nook, stating that rather than being the greedy antagonist he's perceived to be, Nook is actually a good guy.

We think he [Tom Nook] is very misunderstood. He's just passionate about his business. He's not like a loan shark. He doesn't add a handling fee or anything like that. He can wait as long as it takes for you to pay [him] back. He's not as bad as other people might think he is.

Attachment Both early artwork of Bellossom and its Gold and Silver artwork show that it was originally a similar color to its other evolutionary relatives. A possible explanation for the change to its current color scheme would be the intention to avoid another racial controversy, as the original Bellossom design appears similar to traditional polynesian dress. However, this is unlikely to be the case.
