In 2021, a speedrunner working with a group effort to decompile the game uncovered a cheat code that can turn a 0% save file into a 100% save file, likely used by the game's developers for debug purposes. To use the code, you must first plug in two controllers, turn on the game and create a new save on File 3. It does not matter if there is save data or not on File 1, but File 2 must have no save data. Then reset the game and, using the second controller, hold L when the Nintendo & HAL Laboratory logos appear and press C-Up/C-Up/R/C-Right/C-Left/Start. The 1-Up sound effect will play if done successfully, and File 3 will now hold a 100% save file.
This code can be executed on every release of the game except for the Wii Virtual Console release due to the lack of C-Button mapping for that version.

A 2009 port of the game for the Wii titled Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop has features that were either changed or added in which are not present in the original Xbox 360 version:
•Upon completing the game, Ending A is the only ending that can be obtained apart from the other endings present in the Xbox 360 version.
•The save feature has been changed to add multiple save slots compared to only one in the Xbox 360 version.
•72 Hour mode and Overtime became one mode altogether, with side missions no longer taking up the main timeframe in the game.
•A ranking system has been added based on how fast the player completes a mission to unlock new missions and rewards.
•Two game modes, Odd Jobs and 2nd Amendment, have been added. And unlocking the Real Mega Buster and Laser sword require the player to beat all missions on both game modes with an S rank.
•More costumes can be unlocked, with the inclusion of both Roll Caskett from Mega Man Legends and Nathan Spencer from Bionic Commando.
•Psychopaths Kent Swanson, Jo Slade, and Cliff Hudson have become zombies while Paul Carson has been omitted from the game entirely.
•Cletus Samson can be saved in the Wii version unlike the Xbox 360 version, where he gets eaten alive by zombies.
•The inclusion of zombie parrots and poodles.
•Books and Firearms can no longer be found within the mall and instead are sold to Frank by Cletus.
•Firearms no longer break upon being used.
•Zombies drop ammo or money once killed.
•The Camera feature is absent in the Wii version.
•Phone calls from Otis are answered automatically.
•Infinity Mode is absent in the Wii version.
•Killing 53,594 zombies unlocks the Apocalypse Frank costume unlike in the Xbox 360 version, which unlocks both the Real Mega Buster and the Zombie Genocider achievement.
•Leisure Park has its area shortened and vehicles can no longer be driven within the park. However, The player can still drive in the maintenance tunnels and must pay a fee to drive a different type of vehicle.
•Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulties have been added.
•The option to change blood color to Red, Green, and White has been added.
•Only 100 zombies appear at a time on screen instead of 800 in the Xbox 360 version.
•The firearms Frank obtains are the same ones from Resident Evil 4.
•Juices have their abilities changed to how herbs work in the Resident Evil series. The Blue juice, however, acts as a randomizer that either damages Frank, gives him invincibility, increased speed, health, or turns him into Mega Man from the Mega Man series.
•Frank's fighting skills have been converted to combat events used only when battling psychopaths.
•The jumping ability has been removed, so Frank can no longer jump to reach higher areas.
•Barricades have been included, making some areas less accessible.
•Cutscenes have been pre-rendered so Frank's appearance no longer affects the in-game cutscenes.
•Subtitles have been enlarged to make up for the small lettering found in the Xbox 360 version.
•Survivors' health bars no longer display their names nor can Frank injure any survivors.
•PP Stickers are absent in the Wii version.
•Item slots have been moved to the pause menu of the game. However, the player can still cycle between firearms during gameplay.
•Frank can only be assigned one melee weapon in the Wii version unlike in the Xbox 360, where he can carry as many melee weapons as needed.
Furthermore, the Wii was not graphically capable of handling the MT Framework used to develop the game for the Xbox 360, so the game itself was entirely remade from scratch using the engine for the Wii port of Resident Evil 4 after the critical and commercial success of that version.

In December 2019, the game was briefly removed from sale on itch.io over trademark infringement. According to itch.io's creator, the site received a takedown notice towards the game due to its page using in the description the phrase "choose your own adventure", a trademark owned by the company Chooseco.

On the Xbox 360 version of the game, going to the Food Court while playing on Infinity Mode from 4:05:00 to 4:23:59 will freeze the game on the loading screen, rendering both the 5 Day and 7 Day Survivor achievements unobtainable. This glitch was patched in an update for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC remastered ports.

The Japanese and PAL region releases of Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir have exclusive bonus content that can be accessed after completing Story Mode by scanning an augmented reality marker on the back of the instruction manual to the Wii port of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, released only in Japan and PAL regions under the name Project Zero 2: Wii Edition. Scanning the marker will unlock models of Mio and Mayu Amakura as they appear in that game to view in Spirit Photography mode. Because the Wii port of Project Zero 2 was never released in North America, these models were made inaccessible in the North American release of Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir.

The game started out as a 2D reimagining of Grand Theft Auto III for the Gameboy Advance. The original developer, Destination Software, moved the project over to another developer, Crawfish. However, Crawfish announced they were closing down a week after this announcement. Former Crawfish developer Anders Granlund shared screenshots from the original build of the game.

The order that your rival Brenden or May sends out their Pokémon during battle is determined by which gender they are and, thus forth, is also determined by which gender the player chose for their own character before their adventure started. However, for reasons unknown, this only works if the starter the rival choose was Treecko.

Two of the 12 friends you can rescue in the game are Chris and Dan of HyperDuck SoundWorks, an electronic music duo specializing in composing video game soundtracks and the composers of the soundtrack to Dust: An Elysian Tail. "We spoke to Dean [Dodrill] about the Ducks being in this special room he was making, he brought the idea to us I believe. We were of course totally down with that, and we wrote Glick 16 to go with the club where all the characters gathered to party"

While the game was in early stages of development, Alex Kain saw early footage of the game and decided to contact its creator Dean Dodrill directly to offer assistance in game's writing. Dean was reluctant at first and gave a small sample of the game's story to which Alex gave feedback on where it could be improved; sometime later Dean took Alex on as an assistant writer for the game.

The letters you collect can sometimes give hints on how to rescue other characters; one such hint is a letter titled "The Girl" which says the following:
While not signed, if you do go to the bridge in Denham and make your way up, you can rescue Bandage Girl from the Super Meat Boy series, implying that the letter was written by Dr. Fetus and sent to Meat Boy, who is known for wall jumping in his series.
"Don't worry, I put her cage in a safe place. If you ever need to find her, just climb up high above the wooden bridge near Denham. And don't try doing that wall-jump move of yours to get to her - you'll fall and break your neck!"

When emptying the Rubbish Chutes, you will often find one that has a Blue Diamond and a grey and green device. This is a reference to the Henry Stickmin series, a series of Flash Games made by the artist of Among Us, PuffballsUnited. The Diamond is the Tunisian Diamond from Stealing the Diamond, and the device is the Teleporter that Henry uses in every game and almost never works.

Using Kombat Kodes (six digit numerical codes in sets of three, specified by Mortal Kombat iconographies) on the VS. character screen before a match, several messages can be conjured on screen when the match has begun. Several of these messages are developer messages and references to other games:
•999-999 = Displays a message indicating what version revision is being played.
•550-550 = Displays the message: "Go see the Mortal Kombat Live Tour!", advertising the 1995 martial arts theatrical stage show of the same name.
•122-221 = Displays the message: "Skunky! - E.F." which assumedly is an inside joke from a developer playing on the "Toasty!" gag by programmer Dan Forden.
•987-666 = Displays the message: "Hold flippers during Casino Run". This is a reference to Jack*Bot, an arcade pinball cabinet produced by Williams Entertainment who has worked with Midway on the home console ports of Mortal Kombat titles.
•004-400 = Displays the message: "Whatcha gun do? - E.B", a joke message from Ed Boon that possibly pokes fun at the fact of Mortal Kombat being a fighting game.
The Sega Saturn release of the game also features two exclusive developer messages:
•200-002 = Displays the message: "It should work!? - P.A.B."
•300-003 = Displays the message: "PUB! - D.K.P."

An unused unique type of crate is hidden in two locations in the final version of the game, but are invisible and can only be activated with the use of a level editor. Known as the "Upgrader Crate", the concept would have been to instantly upgrade Ratchet's lowest level weapon currently owned by one level upon breaking it.
According to Insomniac Games Developer Mike Stout, the concept was scrapped on account of detracting from the fun of using the weapons to gather XP and grind the levels/evolution into said weapon's evolved form.
The crates can be made to appear in Holostar Studios and on board the Phoenix during the rescue mission at the games climax.

There is a message prompt that can be activated under seemingly impossible circumstances. Should a player manage to kill themselves with the sniper rifle weapon, a prompt will appear stating: "[Username] violated the laws of space time and sniped himself/herself."
Due to the sniper rifle being a hit-scan weapon (it will only fire exactly at where the mouse cursor is hovering) it is unknown if any legitimate means to achieve this scenario in-game without modding or hacking exist.

Unused text in the game's files indicates that at one point in development, the developers had considered including a "Statistics" menu which would keep track of an assortment of miscellaneous in-game information, as follows:
Bolts earned
Number of enemies killed
Damage taken
Bolts spent on ammo
Shots fired
Damage dealt
Bolts spent on weapons
Nanomites (XP) earned
Time spent in Vid-Comics
Fastest play-through time
Number of objects broken
Time spent strafing
Time spent in 1st person mode
Time spent falling
Number of jumps performed
Number of deaths
This feature was likely scrapped early in development as no menu textures exist for this screen nor any option related to it in the Pause menu.

Using a specific code with a Gameshark cheat device, it's possible to view your opponent's cards in their hand during play. Utilizing this cheat, it's been discovered that the CPU opponents are programmed with an unfair advantage allowing them to change the cards drawn from their deck into entirely different cards to better suite the course of a match (i.e. changing an unnecessary Trap or Spell card into a Monster card that has high enough ATK points to destroy a powerful Monster card the player may have placed on the field the turn prior).
