Once you get a Game Over, you get a cut scene of your vehicle exploding, and your license plate spins and falls where the car once was. This is a reference to a scene in "Back to the Future," where Doc is testing out the DeLorean. The license plate even references the scene from the movie by saying "OUTTALIFE" instead of "OUTATIME."

Attachment Doom II has two secret levels designed as a tribute to other id titles. The first secret level titled "Wolfenstein" is largely based on the first map in Wolfenstein 3D. A secret exit in the level leads to the second secret map, titled "Grosse", referencing Hans Grosse, the first boss in Wolfenstein 3D. To beat "Grosse", the player has to shoot four hanging Commander Keens and flip a switch. Commander Keen is the protagonist in multiple platformer games also developed by id.

(translation: "The weaklings should stay home playing Super Smash Bros. Melee!") after having defeated The Koopinator. In all other versions of the game "Super Smash Bros. Melee" is simply replaced with "video games".
