Franchise: F-Zero

F-Zero has several tie-ins with the Star Fox series. The character James McCloud shares the name of Fox's father from Star Fox, and the characters have many other similarities:
•They wear the same outfit.
•Both drive drive ships powered by G-Diffusers that were designed by a company named "Space Dynamics".
•F-Zero's James McCloud also is the squadron leader of a space combat team known as "Galaxy Dogs", a clear parody of Star Fox, and his partner, a man named O'Donnell, is a likely reference to Star Fox's Wolf O'Donnell.
•In F-Zero X, James McCloud even states the he "drives like a sly fox", furthering the connection.
Minecraft: Java Edition

One of the splash texts in Minecraft is "Consummate V's!" This is a reference to the Homestar Runner "Strong Bad Emails" episode, "Dragon", in which Strong Bad explains how to draw Trogdor. This includes drawing "consummate 'V's" for teeth.
Star Fox Command

Two of the game's endings make references to the F-Zero series. In the first ending, "Goodbye Fox", Falco Lombardi can be seen wearing a pair of boots that belong to F-Zero's Captain Falcon. In another ending, Fox and Falco are seen entering the "G-Zero Grand Prix", a mock up of the F-Zero Grand Prix. What's more, the two convert their fighter ships into racing vehicles, as did a character in the F-Zero games known as James McCloud, himself a tribute to James McCloud of the Star Fox games.

Attachment In the Masaba Temple is a puzzle that involves the player stepping on symbols in the correct order. Some of these symbols resemble the icons used by the band Led Zepellin.

The champion "Blitzcrank" will sometimes say "Exterminate" when attacking, a possible reference to the popular TV show, Doctor Who.

Attachment Sourman, a character from Akira Toriyama's one-shot manga "Tomato, Girl Detective" who has made many appearances in his later work including the Dragon Ball franchise, briefly appears in the Eastern Capital level. He can be seen rolling across the street lying on a skateboard after a telephone booth is smashed by the fighting characters.

During The Paleto Score, if Spoiler:Packie McReary is brought along as a heist gunman, he begins to talk about a robbery in Liberty City:
"Spoiler:It was me, my brother Derek, God rest his soul, my pal Michael, God rest his soul, and another boy Niko, who's probably dead too."


This refers to the events of the mission Spoiler:Three Leaf Clover in Grand Theft Auto IV.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Attachment Entering L1TTLVN (little one) as a password will display a picture of a newborn baby, along with the words "Congratulations Tom & Yvonne". The only "Tom" credited in the game is Tom Heaton, who worked on Game and Level Design.

Attachment There is a secret room in Chapter 7, "The Million Dollar Question." When walking on some scaffolding, following the ledge past the first open window will reveal a second open window. Inside this window is a small shrine with a memorial for Miika Forssell, a developer who died during the development of the game.

Attachment After collecting all the sandwiches in a level, a blue phone box with a flashing blue light will appear which will take Taz to a bonus challenge. This is a reference to the TARDIS from Doctor Who, as the box also features the classic TARDIS ship interior.

Attachment A book case in the living room of Franklin's Vinewood house contains a book called "Red Dead", by J. Marston. This is a reference to Red Dead Redemption, and its protagonist, John Marston.

Attachment Multiple test rooms can be found in the games data. One of these is actually the 1st boss arena from Ninja Gaiden 2, where the player fights Rasetsu. The background tower is no longer part of the model, but the structure is mostly intact.

Attachment King Rammus' design bears a strong resemblance to Bowser from the Mario franchise.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations

Upon first meeting Lisa Basil and hearing she's the company director, Phoenix will state "Sh-She's human?! She seems more like a ghost in a shell." This is a reference to the manga/anime Ghost in the Shell.

The HMDs that she and her employees wear seem to also be a reference to the scouters in Dragon Ball Z.

There's a chance that the splash text on the title screen will read "12345 is a bad password". This could be a possible reference to a scene in the 1987 film Spaceballs.

Attachment There is a classified patch that can be unlocked by completing a challenge called "Ghost Busted". The ghost on the patch resembles a Pac-Man ghost, and it's description reads "Don't Cross The Streams!", making this a double reference to both Ghostbusters and Pac-Man.

John Marston from Red Dead Redemption is one of the possible "Special Dads" available during character creation for Grand Theft Auto Online. This will only display if the user has a save file from that game, and can be used to influence the appearance of their GTA Online character.

There are a couple of locations in Los Santos that feature Marilyn Monroe, Charles Chaplin, John Wayne and Elvis Presley. One is near board walk and the other is in a back alley.

Attachment When selecting the Famicom and NES color schemes for R.O.B., the stickers on their base change to reflect their real-life counterparts. The decal for the Japanese Famicom R.O.B. reads "Family Computer Robot", while the decal for the North American NES R.O.B. reads "Robotic Operating Buddy".

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, these regional color schemes based on R.O.B.'s original models for the Famicom and NES are made his default palette depending on if you are playing the Japanese or International versions of the games respectively.
