The world record for the fastest completion time in the game has had contentious debate over its legitimacy. Todd Rogers had held the record since 1982 with a completion time of 5.51 seconds which he submitted to Activision’s official fan newsletter, which was also later recognized by the Guinness World Records. Despite even having support from Activision's founder David Crane over its legitimacy, Rogers was stripped of his record in 2018, as well as his records for other games, as it was determined with evidence that the only possible legitimate fastest record to get in the game was 5.57 seconds.
