The Killer Penguin in the Extinct Animals expansion is a reference to a glitch in the first Zoo Tycoon where Emperor Penguins would kill any herbivorous animal that had been placed in their exhibit. They may also be a reference to the Penguins from the DreamWorks movie Madagascar, as their Zoopedia entry states them to be from Madagascar.
