In the Christmas mission "Oh Come, All Ye Vengeful Pt. 2", Comic Boy Guy, in thinking of a plan to get back at Cletus, who he believes had vandalized his Fortress of Lonelitude, says, "Cletus has brought upon himself a Battle of Dantoonie! And I, for this battle only, am the Yuuzhan Vong!" This is a reference to the Star Wars novel The New Jedi Order: Dark Tide I: Onslaught, where the invading Yuuzhan Vong race attack the New Republic forces and refugees on the planet Dantooine, which result in a massive death toll.

One of the prizes unlocked during the 2015 Halloween event was the Clockwork Bart costume for Bart Simpson, a reference to The Simpsons episode "Treehouse of Horror III" where Bart is seen wearing the costume, which is also a reference to the character Alex DeLarge from the Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange.
