The developers wanted to use the Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak to improve the game's graphics, however Nintendo were hesitant in allowing them and wanted to reserve the Pak to be used only with hardware peripherals. But after seeing the Expansion Pak used on Turok 2: Seeds of Evil to achieve a higher resolution, they decided to allow Factor 5 to use it for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.
