According to former game's illustrator Tom duBois in 'My Life in Gaming', the appearance of 'Jennifer (Operation 747)' on the game's front cover was based on his wife 'Victoria duBois'.

This game was made strictly for the North American audience and without Hideo Kojima's awareness. It had nothing to do with the story of the previous game and is now considered non-canon.

Snake's Revenge was created as a direct sequel to the NES version of Metal Gear without Hideo Kojima's knowledge or involvement. Kojima met one of the developers on a train, who urged him to create a true sequel. This led Kojima to create Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
