A promotional event known as "Inserted Evil" was created to advertise the game. According to Operation Raccoon City's writer and creative director Adam Bullied, the Spec-Op team's leader Crispin Jettingham is gay. His nickname Dee-Ay, or DA, is actually short of "Don't Ask", referring to the phrase "don't ask, don't tell".
