In October 2023, police dashcam video was released that was part of a case involving two LAPD officers who were fired after a disciplinary committee and the police board found they were incompetent in performing their duty. This review was initiated due to one serious occurrence on April 15, 2017 where the two officers were caught on the dashcam audio playing Pokémon Go and trying to catch a Snorlax instead of responding to a call for reinforcements by fellow officers during a robbery at a local Macy's. The two officers filed a countersuit claiming that the analysis of the dashcam was an invasion of privacy, but it was to no avail as the judge ruled in favor of the police board.
