Inside Paradigm's home, a poster can be found for Steam Quest: Gabe's Revenge. This is a reference to the let's play web series Game Grumps and its spin-off show Steam Train hosted by Ross O'Donovan and Dan Avidan, and their let's play of the King's Quest series. Both Ross and Dan are depicted on the artwork wearing the clothes of the characters Prince Alexander and King Graham, respectively, from the King's Quest games. Gabe is a reference to Gabe Newell, the founder of developer Valve and the digital platform Steam.

Ross had also provided the voice over for the Bridge Troll character in the game.

Inside Paradigm's home, one of the records in the record box, Get Rich or Die of Natural Causes, is a reference to the studio album Get Rich or Die Tryin' by rapper 50 Cent.

When Paradigm suggests to John 3000 that he should sell his papier-mache online, John says "Yeahnahyeahnah". This is a reference to the Australian animated comedy series The Big Lez Show.

In the Church, during the conversation close-up of the Glam Nun, on her can be seen tattoos of Manny Calavera from Grim Fandango, Max the Rabbit from the Sam & Max series, Klaymen from The Neverhood, and initials 'NSP', a reference to the comedy band Ninja Sex Party.

One of the cupcakes you can get from the cupcake salesperson in the Hallway is the Cthulhu flavored cupcake, a reference to Cthulhu, one of the great old ones from the Cthulhu Mythos created by early 20th century writer H. P. Lovecraft.

The heads in the jars seen in the Head Mart are a reference to the heads in jars seen in the animated television show Futurama

In the Head Mart terminal, the entry Gold Jerrygold is a reference to the character Kenny Bania from the American sitcom Seinfeld, and one of his well-known lines from the series "That's gold, Jerry! Gold!"

One of the entries in the Head Mart terminal is for the actor and occasional Did You Know Gaming? contributor Vitas Varnas. His bio reads that he chose to put his head in a jar to continue his support for the show Game Grumps and his career as an actor, a reference to the actor being a well-known fan of the series.

Vitas had also provided the voice for the character Dimmer Switch Prodigy Child in the game, and also served as a play tester.

The head mart terminal entry for Gronkh is a reference to the popular YouTuber of the same name.

His entry reads "While in the process of removing his head to be placed in a mecha, thugs stole his head and put it on the black market. Popular Youtuber. Very valuable, ask for a price."
