Near the start the game's intro, Metal Sonic's hands are colored white instead of yellow like they normally are on his in-game model.

In the international Wii release, only Mario and Sonic can be seen skiing and snowboarding on the game's front cover. In the Japanese and Korean versions of the game, Amy, Knuckles, Luigi, and Peach can also be seen skiing and snowboarding.
