The game cartridge for Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble is unique among Game Boy Color cartridges, as it has a notch in its top right corner which usually only appears on original Game Boy games. This notch enabled original Game Boy cartridges to fit inside the system's cartridge slot. Other GBC exclusive titles lack this notch and will therefore not fit inside of an original Game Boy. A Game Boy will also not turn on when GBC games are forced into the slot.
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, however, displays the following message when played in a Game Boy:
It's possible that the game cartridges for Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble were re-purposed from another, non-GBC exclusive game. Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble is only Game Boy Color exclusive game with this feature.

A sequel to Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble was being developed for the GameCube and was even shown at Spaceworld 2001. The game was supposed to demonstrate how the Game Boy Advance could be used with the GameCube as a controller. The game used a special cartridge in the Game Boy Advance to detect tilting. Kirby was removed as the mascot, and the game was reworked as 'Roll-o-Rama'. It's unknown why the project was cancelled.
