According to Daisuke Ishiwatari, Bedman's design was meant to be iconic and stand out among Guilty Gear's characters. He said that one of the character designs happened to be in a bed, and he felt it would make him different in comparison to the rest of the cast.

A glitch exists in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- which allows access to Gold and Shadow colors of each character. These colors were removed in the final version are were not intended to be accessible, it is currently unknown what causes this glitch or how to replicate it.
