Jun 27, 2024, 11:31 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Kart: Double Dash!! | Donkey Kong Jr. technically is still there since the modern Donkey Kong is Donkey Kong Jr. as an adult, as explained by many things since the release of Donkey Kong Country such as Donkey Kong Jr. not being in Mario Kart: Double Dash and the default character lineup in Mario Kart 7, but it's still debatable to this day on if they are or aren't the same person. Really it would've made no sense for DK's partner to not be Diddy or any other Kong. |
Jun 27, 2024, 11:02 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash | Pretty sure Boo has been playable in Mario Tennis games before though. |
Jun 24, 2024, 1:00 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Mario Bros. 2 | These Phantos can be defeated without a stop watch in the Super Mario Advance remake, right now though I can't find any videos that show off this change. |
Jun 24, 2024, 12:41 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Party 10 | As way know this method with the vehicle wouldn't last, and the series returned to going round in circles on the boards afterwards. |
Jun 23, 2024, 12:53 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity | Nowhere else on the internet seems to mention anything about an unreleased Xbox 360 version, so much so that they won't accept Xbox 360 as one of the platforms on IGDB. This wouldn't be the only submission with the Cancelled Release tag that this applies to, for instance with the submission about one of the SoulCalibur games: https://www.vgfacts.com/game/soulcalibur/trivia-2371/ |
Jun 22, 2024, 2:06 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Sonic Rivals | Impressive as well I should add for the audio attachment having been gotten hold of from somewhere, usually I can only find that stuff if they're at places which offer audio pieces like the Cutting Room Floor and Sound Effects wikis. |
Jun 22, 2024, 2:05 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Sonic Rivals | Thanks as usual for approving this submission, I found best to go with since nowhere on the internet has a PDF for the concept art book. Good thing either way that a video showing off evidence that the rival select theme went unused was found, basically it needed to be something that showed off challenge mode as only there you can choose your rival. |
Jun 22, 2024, 8:40 AM | DidYouKnowGaming | Game: Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II | Good shout. I've updated the trivia. |
Jun 16, 2024, 8:43 PM | Regen-33 | Game: Pokémon Red Version | Planning on running this team in Leaf Green at some point. |
Jun 16, 2024, 12:12 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | If Sonic wasn't able to swim, his games never would've had underwater areas in any of the levels. |
Jun 14, 2024, 4:53 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | Many thanks for able to approve this after previous failed attempts with posting something something for the Zelda series whole. Thanks as well as well as usual for the additional info. |
Jun 10, 2024, 8:59 AM | Shockwave | Game: MultiVersus | I'll admit I overthought that in an effort to be funny in the technicality that someone else took over DC's films |
Jun 10, 2024, 7:03 AM | MehDeletingLater | Game: MultiVersus | From what I understand he was basically pushing for Black Adam to be on the same stage as Superman instead of just being a Shazam villain, but I doubt he had a direct impact on the DC films getting rebooted. Superhero universe movies like these are greenlit years in advance, and not only had they been struggling to sell tickets since the COVID-19 pandemic, but Warner Bros. went through another merger so their priorities changed as they restructured their studios. I imagine they were already negotiating with James Gunn and Peter Safran before the release of this film and when they got hired they decided to start from scratch. |
Jun 10, 2024, 5:15 AM | Shockwave | Game: MultiVersus | he did change the hierarchy, right? Be rebooting the entire DCEU? |
Jun 8, 2024, 5:38 AM | MehDeletingLater | Game: Shadow the Hedgehog | Diddy Kong Racing isn't the E-rated game I'm talking about. The first Conker game was Conker's Pocket Tales in 1999 for the Game Boy Color which was rated E. The 2010s games Conker was in were that Project Spark campaign and that HoloLens Young Conker game which were both rated T. I brought that up because Conker is an example of a series that started with an E-rating and later got M-rated games, which disproves your first claim. Those other decisions about Shadow the Hedgehog were not made at the same time, but at separate points in 2005. The previous cast members were not informed they were being replaced by the Sonic X cast until September at the latest. Sonic's previous voice actor Ryan Drummond claimed he was never asked about the replacement and was only informed until after it went into effect, which means Sega was already recording voice lines with the Sonic X cast for the game and Drummond most likely was not asked to record anything if they didn't ask him about the replacement. Since we do know that Sega decided to censor the script to aim for the E10+ rating after it was introduced in March, the Sonic X cast recording for the game had to have started before the rating was introduced for the unused Shadow swearing takes to happen. https://www.ign.com/articles/2005/03/02/esrb-introduces-e10-game-rating https://web.archive.org/web/20151121064154/http://www.sonicstadium.org/2005/09/sonic-voiceover-cast-replaced/ |
Jun 8, 2024, 4:20 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Shadow the Hedgehog | Of course Conker the way he was supposed to've been in Conker's Twelve Tales lives on in Diddy Kong Racing, had no idea he was in any E rated games of the 2010s with how he ended up being. And I could've sworn that the decision for Shadow the Hedgehog to be E10+ was made at the same time the decision to use the 4Kids voice actors in the games was made, both in 2005 when that said ESRB rating was introduced. |
Jun 7, 2024, 5:03 PM * | MehDeletingLater | Game: Shadow the Hedgehog | Neither of these claims are true. The ESRB does not care about maintaining consistent content ratings between games in a series, that decision rests on the developers and what audience they want to target when designing their games. The ESRB only cares about the content in the individual game they're reviewing. For example, the Conker series has had games with E, T, and M ratings. Even after Conker shifted to a mature audience, developers did not keep the series strictly adult-oriented and tried to utilize it for slightly more family-friendly releases in the 2010's by designing future games to get a lower rating than M. Shadow the Hedgehog was released in November 2005 and is the first game in the series to use the Sonic X cast, not just Jason Griffith, so him recording those swears because Sega wanted a higher rating is possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsmqhQ52p8w#t=273s |
Jun 7, 2024, 1:47 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Shadow the Hedgehog | Thanks for the additional information to whoever added it in, but there's no way the gaming industry would ever allow there to be any games rated M for Mature in any franchises with games rated E for Everyone. And I don't see how any F Bombs would've been recorded by Jason Griffith, since the dialogue he recorded for Shadow would've been done in 2005 after the decision to use the Sonic X voice actors in the games was made. |
May 30, 2024, 4:08 AM * | MehDeletingLater | Game: PokéRogue | This submission was approved because it's about a controversy stemming from the game's creator stepping down. Considering that both the developers and fans were using the same Discord server where this happened, fans scrutinizing and trying to pressure developers on their own platform (especially in these circumstances where the lead developer stepped down over personal views conflicting with his fanbase) has a direct effect on the game's development. Yes, it's political and drama-ridden, but it's still trivia about the game and it's not the only political and drama-ridden submission on this site. As for this game's notability, that is not an issue in my opinion. There are over 4,700 games registered on VGFacts and many of them are games, both official and fanmade, that many people do not know or care about. What actually matters here is the content of the trivia submitted and how users interact with trivia. This site has the smallest audience compared to Spriter's Resource and DYKG, and since the shared audience in this network also shares similar interests (e.g. Nintendo games), trivia about what regular users are interested in gets very obviously saturated compared to trivia from people who are not here as often. However, VGFacts does not turn away games that people outside of its specific userbase are interested in, only submissions about the games that do not follow our guidelines. If there is a video game on IGDB for us to pull from, it can have trivia submitted to VGFacts (please note there may be select entries in their database we will reject due to them technically not being video games in the first place. I don't know the full scope of this issue on IGDB, but one time I had to reject trivia about a DVD Bingo game with the user who submitted it trying to weasel about if it was considered a video game, so I don't want to take risks with that). |
May 30, 2024, 12:26 AM | J7EggLover | Game: PokéRogue | This is a political and drama-ridden mess on a fan game that not many people know about. Why is this even on this site? |
May 29, 2024, 1:33 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Franchise: Mario | Submissions talking about pop culture references are being gotten rid of, yet this one talking about pop culture references in Illumination films is still standing, as is the one mentioning a Banjo-Kazooie reference in the Viva Pinata show by 4Kids Entertainment. |
May 29, 2024, 1:31 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Kart 64 | Have been wondering lately if this submission would be better off on the Mario Kart collection page then Mario Kart 64, since it's about an item that's been in every game since then. But then again I guess it would depend on other submissions talking about item origins in the Mario Kart series, like if they too are on the page of their respective games of introduction. |
May 29, 2024, 5:20 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Mario 64 | Shall have this submission updated once the next game with Monty Moles and Goombas having audio in them comes around, mentioning on if they do or don't still have what is pitched from Mario saying "here we go", or if they pitched one of Mario's voice lines from after Kevin Afghani took over Charles Martinet, or if their new audio is done by scratch. |
May 29, 2024, 5:16 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Nicktoons Unite! | Pity IGDB don't find the IGN page as the right kind of source to have Xbox added in as one of the systems (this one being with the cancelled label). |
May 25, 2024, 1:10 PM * | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Mario 64 | The Thousand Year Door remake is still using that said audio for the Bob-Ombs, which I point out based on when it came around: https://youtu.be/eTnX8KtICnQ Even the audio used for Thwomps in Super Mario 64 is used in the said game, which too come from playing around with Mario's voice clips: https://soundeffects.fandom.com/wiki/SM64_Thwomp_Grunt#Trivia and https://youtu.be/gCS78mcKp1Y But then again it's a game that reuses Charles Martinet's voice clips for Mario, and it'll probably be the last time we ever hear of those sounds. UPDATE 10/10/24: Super Mario Party Jamboree is a game which has both Kevin Afghani as the 4 Italian Plumbers and the same audio taken from Charles Martinet used for Monty Mole and Goomba: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GIVR2Ib011Y?feature=share UPDATE 18/10/24: This further confirms it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvpE_eN7os8 And it seems the audio for Whomps that had been tweaked from Mario's voice is still being used without Charles Martinet as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itWqaaubP5U |
May 24, 2024, 4:21 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Nicktoons Unite! | Thanks VinchVolt for updating the source to explain what's listed on IGN. |
May 19, 2024, 2:18 PM | MehDeletingLater | Game: Resident Evil 4 | Separate Ways is a bonus story campaign that was added to almost every port of Resident Evil 4 after the original GameCube version's release (except for the VR version). |
May 19, 2024, 12:05 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Star Fox | 30 years in the making this sounds like. |
May 19, 2024, 4:14 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Resident Evil 4 | Pretty confused I am as to what "Separate Ways" and what system it had been for this submission with the Console Difference tag is referring to. |
May 5, 2024, 4:12 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Samurai Warriors 3 | Thanks for having the submissions mentioning Samurai Warriors 2 Empires also be displayed on a page for that game after I pointed out on them for some reason being displayed on a page for Samurai Warriors 3. |
May 4, 2024, 1:45 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing | Even though Sega has had no problem with Sonic being in every Smash Bros. game since Brawl as a non-Nintendo character, Nintendo has not been able to allow Mario to appear in any Sega All Stars games as a non-Sega character, all because of the crossovers between the 2 series at the Olympics. |
Apr 29, 2024, 3:42 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Kart 8 | Sometimes I like to think that the additional characters in the Switch port were those intended for the Wii U game that didn't make it due to time constraints. Diddy and Kamek might've even been among them, and could've been in the Switch port's base game if not for less so the Inklings and more so the decision to give different genders separate slots. |
Apr 29, 2024, 3:37 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Kart Wii | No wonder the characters have the same kind of pose on the character select screen. |
Apr 23, 2024, 11:14 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Metroid Prime Hunters | It appears as though the Metroid Prime series either all take place before the events of The Return Of Samus, or they're in a separate timeline: https://twitter.com/Doeboy/status/1407468788136689664 We could have answers in Metroid Prime 4 should it not end up being the start of an all new trilogy. |
Apr 23, 2024, 11:11 AM * | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Metroid Prime Hunters | So you can do spoiler markings with comments as well. Either way I guess Samus herself with the Metroid DNA would count as a Metroid to the point where they were featured in Metroid Dread. Makes me wonder how Zero Suit Samus would turn out in such a way if the DNA is not just in her power suit. |
Apr 22, 2024, 1:48 PM * | MehDeletingLater | Game: Metroid Prime Hunters | At the beginning of Metroid Fusion, Samus gets injected with Metroid DNA, and by the end of Metroid Dread Spoiler:the powers she got from that injection fully manifest and transform her into a human-Metroid hybrid for the final boss fight. While she reverts back to her normal self when that DNA is stabilized by an elderly Chozo you meet at one point in the game, she's still carrying that DNA when you beat the game, so she is technically the last Metroid in existence. Metroid Prime Hunters, and all of the Metroid Prime games, take place in this weird point in-between the first and second sidescrolling Metroid games long before she got injected, so as of now it is the only game in the series to not have any Metroids in it. If you're wondering why the entire Metroid Prime series takes place between the first two Metroid games, I couldn't tell you, but I don't think Metroid was originally intended to have an overarching plot that big. |
Apr 22, 2024, 1:07 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Metroid Prime Hunters | Admittingly I am confused about if Metroids themselves are also completely absent from Metroid Dread or not. |
Apr 22, 2024, 1:06 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Wave Race 64 | Seems odd to mention the names of future platforms in a Nintendo 64 game. The thing about the virtual console is not to make it look like you're playing it on another system, even if that said system has an analog stick. |
Apr 21, 2024, 7:29 PM | MehDeletingLater | Game: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle | This has been corrected, thank you. |
Apr 21, 2024, 7:23 PM | ZpaceJ0ck0 | Game: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle | "he had never had a playable experience in any game even when the other cast members were also playable" Actually, he was playable in the Japan-only Vento Aureo game for the PS2. https://youtu.be/oUkCgcepjEI?si=lFDYla0pGSk_x_GA You might want to rephrase that bit. |
