Although a common practice among fans trying to create Miis for characters with more unconventional designs, official Miis made and distributed by Nintendo rarely utilize facial features in unintended creative ways (i.e. using an open mouth as a dog nose, or eyebrows to make a longer moustache). Some exceptions include the following:

• The Tseng Mii featured in the Turks & Rufus Shinra spirit battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a mole on his head that is meant to appear as a bindi.
• The Nina Mii in Super Mario Maker 2 has a tuft of hair made out of eyebrows.
• The Splatoon Miis featured in promotional materials for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate use either baggy eyes or eyeliner as the Inklings' ring-like masks.
