A Boy and His Blob for the Wii was not publisher Majesco's first attempt at putting an A Boy and His Blob game out. Before the 2009 re-imagining of the 1989 game A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia, Majesco shelved two games in the series.
A Boy and His Blob: Jelly's Cosmic Adventure was planned for a release in 2002 on the Gameboy Advance and had completely changed visuals of the "boy" and Blobert according to the boxart.
Also, a 2005 sequel to the original was planned for release in the Nintendo DS, but was cancelled 20% into development.
Both of these games were cancelled due to financial trouble at Majesco.
