A hidden debug room remained hidden and undiscovered in the game until an interview with the developers surfaced 20 years later in Retro Gamer magazine. Interacting with a matchbox near a flickering street light outside the Morgue in a specific way would warp the player into a room containing various items (including one thought to be unused in the final game) and warps to every level in the game.

An unnamed programmer, "The Hanafuda Captain", hid a message in the NES Classic Edition's code that reads:

"This is the hanafuda captain speaking. Launching emulation in 3...2...1. Many efforts, tears and countless hours have been put into this jewel. So, please keep this place tidied up and don't break everything! Cheers, the hanafuda captain."

"Hanafuda" is a reference to the playing cards Nintendo sold before entering the video game business.

After the release of Street Fighter 3, Capcom had the idea of introducing Akuma's new super moves for future games in his endings:

• Akuma uses "Kongou Kokuretsuzan" in his Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact ending, becoming one of his Super Arts in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

• The technique "Tenshou Kaireki Jin" was first seen in Akuma's ending in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. It was used to destroy the remains of a sunken liner ship that sat on the ocean floor. It would later became Akuma's second Ultra Combo in Super Street Fighter IV.

• Akuma was first seen using the "Sekia Kuretsuha" move in his Super Street Fighter IV ending. There, he destroyed a forest with it. That same technique became Akuma's first Critical Art in Street Fighter V.
