• The protagonist's Persona is Arsene, named after the gentleman thief Arsene Lupin created by French author Maurice Leblanc.
• Ryuji's Persona is Captain Kidd, named after the Scottish pirate William Kidd.
• Ann's Persona is Carmen, named after the Gypsy Dancer seductress most notable in Bizet's opera.
• Morgana's Persona is Zorro, named after the famous Californian vigilante.
• Yusuke's Persona is Goemon, named after Goemon Ishikawa who lived during 16th century Japan.
• Makoto's Persona is Johanna, named after Pope Joan who disguised herself as a man to infiltrate the Roman Catholic clergy.
• Haru's Persona is Milady, named after Milady de Winter, the French spy from The Three Musketeers.

Futaba's Persona Necronomicon, however, isn't named after a person, but rather an object called a grimoire. This is a fictional magic textbook found in horror stories written by H.P. Lovecraft.

The real-life Edward Kelley was an alchemist who worked for the Queen during the time. However, he was arrested by the Roman Empire for failing to create gold and died in prison. The Kelley met in the game is a homunculus created by John Dee months after the original's death. In the second visit to the Tower of London, before the boss, there are clones who have the same memorandum as the first one.

In the second version of the Tower of London, William can discover a piece of amrita with the voice of a child inside it. This child and the brother he is referring to is a reference to The Princes in the Tower paintings. They are expressions that frequently refer to Prince Edward V (11) and Richard (9), who mysteriously disappeared in the Tower of London in 1483. To this day it was unknown whether the died in the Tower or escaped.

In the post-game version of the Tower of London, there is a man in a prison cell William can talk to. Through the hints he gives about himself, he is likely Walter Raleigh, the man who claims to have found the "City of Gold", El Dorado. This is highlighted by the Large Spirit Stone he gives to William after exhausting his dialogue.

Attachment In 2012, Ken Balough announced that Big the Cat would be retired from the franchise for the time being as they could not find a good use for the character, and all things that they already tried didn't work out for him. This however did not stop Big from making cameo appearances in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, having a trophy in the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. 4, having a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, being playable in the mobile games Sonic Runners and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, and even making a full appearance in Lego Dimensions and Team Sonic Racing. Big was eventually reintroduced to the mainline Sonic games in Sonic Frontiers.
