Attachment In the english versions of Pokemon, there are the Pokemon "Hitmonlee" and "Hitmonchan". The English names are references to Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

In the Japanese version it's "サワムラー" (Sawamular) and "エビワラー" (Ebiwalar). Sawamular is a reference to Tadashi Sawamura, the one of the first kickboxers. Ebiwalar is derived from Hiroyuki Ebihara, a Japanese world-champion boxer.

Attachment There is a parody of GTA Vice City in the game. There are ten hidden enemies named "Timmy Vermicelli" which can be murdered by the player, which are intentionally poorly rendered models resembling Tommy Vercetti. Timmy Vermicelli also wears water-wings (arm bands), a reference to the lack of swimming in GTA games available at the time.

By performing Nightwolf's Friendship, he will transform into Raiden with a Mortal Kombat II arcade cabinet. He also says "I've never seen a Kano transformation," which is referring to the rumors that Shang Tsung could transform into the missing Kano in Mortal Kombat II.

After the ending credits, there is a morse code conversation between two unknown people. The first massage says "Vault facility occupied. Project Vulture Sentry System has been disabled. Awaiting instructions." The second is a German sentence, that when translated says "Confirmed. Implementation of phase Two. Activate project ALBATROSS." This was meant to set up for a sequel that (at the time of writing this) has yet to be announced.

Attachment Rockster Video Games is a store located in Ocean Beach, Vice City, just north of The Pole Position Club. The store is an obvious reference to Rockstar Games. The window of the store has character artworks of 8-Ball, El Burro, Kenji Kasen, and Maria Latore and the door has a Rockstar Games logo.

Attachment In the "Ink & Paint Club", you can find Jessica Rabbit's phone number which is an actual real-world number to call. Players could dial the number which would then have a recorded message set-up by LJN providing hints for the game. However, calling the number now will direct you to a phone-sex hotline.

The Kuruma is referenced in an episode of CBS crime drama "NCIS" where a witness tells Ziva David that the getaway car was a "Kuruma", who gets told by her superior Agent Gibbs that "kuruma" means car, and that her description of the car is car. Agent McGee steps in and tells his confused co-workers, "Kuruma is the name of a car in Grand Theft Auto III, it's a Chrysler Sebring Sedan, boss."
