According to writer and designer Britton Jackson, Sonic's Schoolhouse started development as an original edutainment title called "Answer Hunt", that was fully developed by BAP Interactive and had no association with Sonic. This changed when BAP's production partner, Motion Picture Corporation of America, approached Sega, who expressed interest in repackaging the game as a Sonic product.
